This compost keeper is truly amazing! I add in all sorts of disgusting food bits, leave it out at room temperature, and it sits there on my counter -- looking stunning -- with NO odor. I put my nose right next to the ventilation holes on the lid and sniff -- nada. It holds about a week of our vegetable and fruit kitchen scraps (including daily coffee grounds and multiple tea bags), making it very convenient for the casual composter or vermiculturalist. The lid fits very snugly. This is a solid, quality product; and it is one that I could not recommend more highly. Odorless. Pleasing to the eye. Amazing.

This is a great container to hold compost. I am a teacher and purchased it for my classroom. Sometimes we change it every few days and it is great at "containing" the odor of the food inside. It opens up easily has a comfortable handle even for younger kids. I would recommend this over the plastic ones.

This thing works great ... it sits in the corner of our kitchen near the garbage can and we've been putting every scrap of compostable material in there since it arrived. We keep a larger, 5-gallon bucket out on the back deck which we empty this unit into once or twice a week, then I carry the 5-gallon bucket out to the garden from there. Combined with my Mantis Twin Drum composter, I'm going to be an unstoppable force when gardening season rolls around in May. Also, the filter in the top of this Norpro works like a charm -- there is no worry about any smell or stench inside your home from it. This item was a little bit pricier than some of the other offerings, but its sturdy construction, good looks, effective filter, and appropriate size all add up to a satisfied customer.

I read the previous reviews and thought I would get something more than a beautiful garbage can, but the compost keeper doesn't seem to be much more than that. It is not totally ordor free. I put in extra filters and that seemed to help along with a sprinkling of baking soda. But the compost keeper alone is not ordor free. Moreover, taking out and putting in filters is not a simple matter either.

The Norpro Stainless-Steel Composter Keeper is great. Before we got it, we were just putting our kitchen compost in an open container on the counter. Although we never really had odor problems, because I took it out daily, we did have a couple instances of fruit flies. That's when we decided to get the Compost Keeper. Now I don't take out the compost until I have a full container. Having all stainless appliances, it blends in nicely with the rest of the kitchen. Perhaps my favorite feature is the weight of the product. This is a high quality product, and even though it seals pretty well around the edges when closed, the container is heavy enough to allow you to remove the lid with one hand without having to hold the bottom part down, even when empty. This is convenient when you have a banana peel or egg shells in one hand and just need to lift the lid, toss them in, and replace the lid. It has a comfortable handle that makes transporting it to the garden a breeze, too. I highly recommend this product.

This is the best one I've found anywhere. It's built well, looks nice, and doesn't smell, even when I haven't taken the contents out to the compost pile for a week.

Because the item's title says "composter", I should warn the less experienced that you cannot complete the compost process inside this bucket. This is a storage container used to hold scraps of food, so you don't have to run out to the back yard every time you eat a banana.

Wow! I have been so impressed with this composter! I reviewed many before I purchased this one! It arrived quickly and as described (with the a total of three filters - one to start with and two replacements). It is beautiful and looks great in my kitchen! Before I purchased this one, I considered the white ceramic one I found when shopping, but it sounded as though it would be a little too heavy for me. This stainless steel one is just right even when full, but it's 'light weight' does not compromise how well made it is. I have to carry this several hundred feet to dump it when full and found it to be very solid. The handle is very strong and sturdy and the gripper makes it easy to hold. Also, it is virtually odor free even when sitting full in a warm kitchen for a week. I waited a bit to rate this item because I wanted to try it several times first. Now, I really don't know how I've gotten by all these years without it!! Also, I find it to be priced right and it was shipped promptly (in shorter time than estimated)!

Pretty good product overall. Needs to have an airtight lid. It tends to attract fruit flies. I opened it a few days ago and the fruit flies were terrible, and there were little worms in the bucket--disgusting! We had been using old coffee cans with airtight lids and never had that problem. You have to be very careful to close the lid very quickly so this won't happen.

This is a great counter top composter. It's a nice shiny stainless steel-holds a good amount of material, w/ no smell or fruit flies.

Interior is smooth & doesn't have a "lip" which might catch debris. Very satisfied ! (actually ordered a 2nd one for a friends bday- after they commented on ours)

We've been using this compost keeper for several weeks and it's spacious, keeps compost without odor or issues and dumps easily and quickly into our compost bin. The only issue I have is that the exterior does spot a bit and because it's right next to our sink it gets a bit of spray now and then that we just have to wipe off with a rag.
