5.0 out of 5 stars No More Lumps
The Norpro Jelly Strainer and Bag is a trick with a hole in the middle! It gets the lumps out of the liquid for jams and jellies and keeps it clear. Used in combination with the Foley Food Mill, all of the juice is extracted and the bag filters the solids. It really is quite a bargain for the kitchen at a little over $9.00.

1.0 out of 5 stars Well, the bags are adaquate, but the frame....
I have to say that I was so excited when I bought this strainer. It looked so simple, and so functional, and best of all, so affordable! Then I attempted using it...

The bag falls off the frame if you fill the bag more than about a third full, no matter how tightly you tie the strings. The reason for this is that it can't slip under the metal loop completely...

1.0 out of 5 stars Well, the bags are adaquate, but the frame...., April 24, 2008
I have to say that I was so excited when I bought this strainer. It looked so simple, and so functional, and best of all, so affordable! Then I attempted using it...

The bag falls off the frame if you fill the bag more than about a third full, no matter how tightly you tie the strings. The reason for this is that it can't slip under the metal loop completely to grasp better because the legs of the thing come directly out of the hoop, and for intensive purposes, from the edge. There is nothing for the bag to grasp. I do larger batches of jellies, and having to slow down production this much is unacceptable.

The upshot is that the bags work. If you've already bought this, and have access to some gallon-sized glass jars (ours were originally pickle jars), you can use those and put the bag in them. It works PERFECTLY. Almost as if that was the original idea...

1.0 out of 5 stars Steel Frame Started To Rust With First Use, July 19, 2009
This review is from: Norpro Jelly Strainer Stand with Bag (Kitchen)
I purchased this jelly strainer with the intent of making yogurt cheese. Immediately I went home to test drive my new purchase. Unfortunately in less than an hour a rust ring started to form on the bag where it fits snuggly around the top of the support frame. It continued to get worse throughout the day.

Thankfully I purchased this locally so I can easily return it. I only wished I had read reviews on it first.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment, July 3, 2009

The service was wonderful. The item arrived quickly and I had no problem with the seller. That said, the threaded end of the metal leg broke off when I went to screw it in and the bag wss too thick for the liquids to strain through. I remember the product's being totally different and I liked it alot, this one was a disappointment. I would recommend the seller highly, but not Norpro.

Bought this when I made grenadine over the holidays. It locked onto my stock pot and stayed put for many hours, and the bag and parts were surprisingly easy to clean. I'd recommend without reservations.

This little number works great and keeps you from having to buy more expensive cheese cloth. I could recommend it.

I bought this to hang fresh made cheese from to drain over a bowl or in the sink. I like it because it come apart for ease of storage and seems strudy enough to hold a pound of fresh ricotta cheese. I only wish it came with more then one bag, that is why I gave this product only 4 stars.

The legs on this are shaky and not so stable but you can kind of work around that. I make jelly and I make fresh cheese too so this can be used for both.

It worked very well. I made Strawberry Jelly and it made the process go much smoother and I didn't have to search for a way to hang a bag in the kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the easy set up and the jelly bag was so easy to clean, April 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Norpro Jelly Strainer Stand with Bag (Kitchen)
The set up was easy and the feet fit my Mix and Pour measuring cup without a problem. The bag was the best part of the jelly strainer as it's made of a solid muslin type fabric. The strawberry juice filtered right through the bag leaving the seeds and pulp behind. The bag was easy to clean as there were no seeds stuck inside the fabric which happened with the mesh jelly bag I used in the past.

In the end, I had a nice row of clear jewel-like jars of strawberry jelly as the jelly strainer did its job.

Recommend.
