Product Description

KRONA Stainless Steel Juicer/Steamer. Extract pure, natural juice from your favorite fruits with this high quality gauge stainless steel steamer/juicer by Norpro. Simply fill the base with water, put fruit in the top basket and bring to a boil on the stove top. The resulting steam gently extracts the juice, which drips into the center pan then travels down the rubber hose into a storage container. Drink the vitamin rich juice fresh, or save it for making jelly or syrup. Without the center pan and hose, the set can also be used to steam vegetables on the stove and roast meats in the oven. Includes: steamer insert, juice container, water pot, silicone tube, stainless steel clamp and tempered glass lid. Recipes and instructions included.

Last year (2008) our little planting of grapes finally started producing. We borrowed a steam juicer and were able to can about 42 quarts of grape juice (along with eating a bunch and selling some). The juicer was so nice that we decided to purchase our own. This Norpro Juicer Steamer has many of the features we were looking for. Stainless steel. Good capacity. We also liked this unit because of the glass lid which allows you to know how the process is going without opening it up (one thing we didn't like with the steamer we borrowed last year). I also noticed that the handles are designed to remain cooler than the other unit - another good feature of this steamer.

I was already familiar with juicer-steamers when I went looking for my own. This one is easy to clean and care for being stainless. The larger pan at the bottom means less chance of cooking off all the water. The glass lid makes it easy to check your progress on the fruit. The only downside is that the hose connection is mounted higher on this juicer than other models. It will retain a little more than a quart of juice below the hose which just means that you have tip it to get all the juice out after each batch. Not a big deal, but the first time you use it you think you aren't getting very much juice. I rate it a 4 only due to the hose positioning. Great product.

I was a bit skepitcal about the Norpro s/s steamer juicer and its price but read through the reviews and found them so favorable, I decided to give it a try. Specifically, I was looking for an easier method to extract juice from fruits and veggies for wine making, and I can say without a doubt, it's the best! It is heavy-duty; the top part held 4 gallon bags of currants and the bottom held 8 quarts of water. You do need to watch the pot so it doesn't dry out, but I had all the juice before I ran out of water. It's easy to clean and the glass lid allows you to look at the fruit as it's releasing its juices without lifting the lid. It was a bit pricey but excellent quality; it was worth every penny! And such a time saver. Thanks!

I appreciate that the 18/10 stainless steel they use seems quite thick. I appreciate that the handles are spot welded 10 times (instead of the typical 4 on competing models), although I would have preferred rivets. I was willing to put up with a glass lid, although in my experience they are pretty much useless: you can't see a thing once they start steaming up, and they eventually fall on the floor and break, leaving you with nothing. But for me the deal-breaker was the way the steam container fits into the water pan.

There is a concave channel formed around the perimeter of the water pan about an inch below the top that the steam container is supposed to rest on. But instead of a nice flat 90 degree ledge, the channel forms a nearly imperceptible bump that doesn't stick out from the inside wall more than 1/16 of an inch. As a result, there is no solid place for the steam container to rest. You place it in and it tilts to one side. You try to straighten it, and it tilts to the other side. I'm guessing the poor fit also allows steam to escape, although I didn't try it steaming anything -- I packed it up for return immediately.

There is no reason to put up with bad design like this. Chinese factories can produce decent quality cookware if the quality control is in place (the Sur La Table brand multi-ply cookware, for example). In this case, unfortunately, Norpro quality control seems to be non-existent.

I was looking at this juicer and another of equal quality and decided on this one because of the reviews. I also looked at the weight and specifications of the unit to be sure I was purchasing a quality product as the quality and weight of a unit assures me it will last for quite a long time. As the old saying goes, "You get what you pay for." Finally, I bought this one because of the glass lid and it did not let me down. I love being able to watch the process without lifting the lid and letting steam out. And if any of you out there are wine makers, this juicer is the ticket to avoid the backbreaking chore of squeezing must bags, to avoid transient bacteria and to help ensure clear wine. Cheers!

Great juicer, I use it mainly for grape juice. Easy to use, I do 500# of grapes a year, and this is the way to do it! This was a gift for my sister, she uses it for cranberries!!

This was my first time using a juicer, I bought this for myself and soon realized that will all the grapes we had to do I needed a second one fast. I bought a different brand for my sister and we worked together. the Norpro krona was bigger, brighter and more eye appealing and produced more juice in same amount of time than my sisters slightly smaller one did. I Love the glad lid on this. Another perk is the thick bottom that distributes the heat evenly and quickly. Stainless steel was also a must. the only con for me was the spout not being at the bottom of the juice reservoir. This juicer holds over a quart before the juice is high enough to spill into the spout. I felt it was dangerous, by myself, to try and tip the pot to get out the juice and just left it until the end of my session when my husband tipped it for me while I filled the jars with the remaining juice. My sisters juicer had a spout at the very bottom of her juice reservoir which was very nice. I'm not sure why Norpro didn't design this one with that same feature. Still, I would buy this one again. I'm very pleased over all and the juice turned out wonderfully.
