Norpro Mesh Tea Ball with Cup Rest Handle

I first tried this spoon/tea ball with some Rishi Organic Earl Grey Loose Tea.

The spoon seems to be fairly well constructed... it hasn't broken yet.

Easy to use and well balanced, sits very well on all of our tea cups.

The only thing I don't like about the spoon is that it doesn't seal all that well and the mesh seems a bit too big, so you end up with a fair amount of loose debris in the bottom of your cup.

All in all it works well for the price if you are willing to put up with some added "tea debris" in the bottom of your cup. So in the meantime I'll continue to use it while I go searching for a better one.

Pros:
Cheap!
Balances/holds well on a variety of different sized tea cups.
Easy to use.

Cons:
Doesn't latch very well so some of the tea leaves get loose.
Mesh isn't fine enough, so again some of the tea leaves get loose.
Made in China...

I have been using this Norpro mesh infuser spoon for about a week. Unlike some of the other mesh infusers I've tried in the past, this one leaves very few floating pieces in my tea (and I often drink tea with smaller pieces, like mate). I also really like the idea that I can either dunk the ball into the teacup or use the groove in the middle of the spoon to rest the infuser on my mug.

What I don't like about this infuser is that the ball is so small. Not only does this make the infuser hard to load with tea (without spilling a bit on the counter) but also constricts the tea leaves (meaning that I often have to infuse for a minute or two longer than I would have to get a full flavor). I also agree with another reviewer that the latch which closes the ball is weak. I've never had tea fall out or the latch open when I am infusing, but I am worried that I will once the latch gets a bit weaker.

All in all, a decent infuser that is convenient and leaves few 'floatees' in your tea. I just wish the ball were bigger and the latch were stronger.

Makes my tea fine. The mesh is not tiny enough, so some tea leaves do come out. Makes better tea like chrysanthemum or any thing that doesn't go through the mesh easily. Closing the mesh is better when you only fill 1 side of the mesh ball, but not too great when you have on both side. Tea can get stuck around the edge which doesn't seal the mesh ball well. The lock that holds the two half mesh locks good and never opens up when I drink. Sometimes when drinking my tea, the mesh looks big or it's in the way when I drink in a small cup, but I don't have a problem with that in a big cup. Aesthetic is good, and I use it once in a while. I gave 3 star because the mesh is not for all tea and I don't really use it all the time. Design of the device is good because other guests likes to see it when I just place it on top of my cup.

I actually bought the one without the cup rest handle, I think. I put it into the loose green tea leaves and scoop up about the right amount of tea. I remove it after about 2 minutes and the tea is almost always good. I think the mesh is better than the other perforated kind. My only thought is I should have just gotten a tea strainer so I could make several cups at a time. I kind of like the mesh spoon, though.

The smaller leaves filter out. It isn't terrible, but somewhat annoying when 1/4 of the product is floating in the water. It does sit nicely on my coffee mug and easy to clean.

This is a really cool concept but it does not let most teas expand fully.

The price is really good. But in the end I ended up going with something a little larger.

If you use very fine loose tea, this might not work for you as the mesh isn't super tiny. I generally use loose tea with bigger leaves and pieces (I drink a lot of herbal tea) and I rarely get pieces left at the bottom of the cup. I'll usually shake it over the sink before I put it in the mug, just in case.

I've had this for a number of months and it's really great. Simple to use and it latches very well. Easy to wash. The notch works great on all mugs.

Item arrived on time and works as described. I usually steep my tea twice or thrice before throwing it away and the tea ball makes it easy. Its easy to clean.

Just nice, for those who enjoy special teas! Clean material, well made, really good. It's worth it. I would recommend for sure.
