This is one of many ice cream scoops that I have purchased over the years. It's the only one that I have found that really works without sticking to the ice cream.
This scoop cuts right through hard frozen ice cream with ease. It forms nice round scoops that are perfectly uniform and solid. I would recommend this to anyone seeking a quality ice cream scoop. It will be the last one that you will ever buy. D Perez

This product really works - I was not at all convinced it was going to work, but was amazed the first time I tried it and it went right through the ice cream and scooped it out without any effort. Truly amazing!

I'd been reccomended anti-freeze scoops a couple times and this was a good time and price to try one out. It worked great, making nice round uniform scoops effortlessly. The non stick surface plus the anti freeze magic worked very well.

Non-Stick material chips and flakes,

Amazon has now shipped me two of these scoops... both have been returned because each arrived with the non-stick coating having already chipped and flaked off in multiple places. A little Teflon in my ice cream? No thanks.
Other than that, the scoop looked great and was nice and sturdy. Another reviewer commented that you could hear the anti-freeze liquid sloshing around in the handle, but neither of my scoops had any detectable handle sloshing sounds. I guess I'll try for a third time, but this is getting a bit ridiculous. If I get another defect, I'm going to give up and (gasp!) go to an actual store...

Works better than a traditional ice cream scoop,

The blade edge of this scoop works well to get the ice cream out, and much better than a normal ice cream scoop. I'm not sure how much the anti-freeze in the handle helps, and personally I'd rather it not be there at all. I would imagine you would have to be scooping a lot of ice cream to see a benefit with that feature.
A quick run under hot water from the faucet lets this scoop slide through your ice cream, making perfect scoops. Simplistic, effective, and no moving parts.

My mother always had an antifreeze scoop while I was growing up, so when I saw this one, I jumped at the chance to get one of my own. Our freezer makes ice cream rock hard, but this scoop runs through it like melted butter! And the non-stick aspect (which my mother's did not have) makes it even better, because the perfect round scoops of ice cream just drop right off into your bowl! It is by far the best scoop ever created!

I have been using one of those mechanical ice cream scoops for years now; the one where you have to push a lever with your thumb to get the ice cream out of the scoop. Those scoops are really only good for mashed potatoes. They're not effective at cutting trough hard ice cream.
This ice cream scoop is a dream. It has an antifreeze liquid inside the handle that is warmed by your hand, and keeps the metal from dropping to the same temperature of the ice cream, which is why it is so hard to scoop in the first place. By keeping the scoop above freezing, it literally cuts like a hot knife through butter. The nonstick surface is great, but it really isn't effective at aiding in ice cream release. I think it's just a marketing trick. Overall, this scoop is great value. It's just as good as the brand-name Zeroll and is only a fraction of the cost!

Scooping ice cream can be a hassle. I particularly don't like letting my ice cream thaw before scooping and with most ice cream scoopers that is a necessary evil. A friend told me she loved her ice scooper with anti-freeze and she described it working like a hot knife through butter. I purchased the Norpro Nonstick Anti-freeze Ice Cream Scoop and I must say the results have been pleasing. Despite the fact that the scoop that my friend owned was a high-end version, The norpro still impressed me. The scoop slices through frozen solid ice cream with ease and it falls away from the scoop with no problem. With that said, I do think there is a trick to using this scoop. It does not work well if you just take it out of the drawer and begin scooping. I find that holding it firmly by the handle and shaking it for a few seconds prepares it for the task of scooping through frozen treats. This has worked for me repeatedly and I can leave the ice cream in the freezer until I am ready to scoop. My theory is that by shaking the anti-freeze, the heat from my hand is transfered to the scoop making the scoop like a hot knife...or maybe more like a warm knife! On the first scoop I still need to apply a little pressure but its not nearly the workout it used to be with your typical ice cream scoop and of course the more you scoop the easier it gets. The Norpro Nonstick Anti-Freeze Ice Cream Scoop is a GOOD buy!

Ok, but paint starts chipping off,

This scoop is heavy and easy to use, but after about 6 months of occasional use the scoop part became pitted and the black paint started chipping off. Not sure if it is a health hazard. The paint is almost all off the inside of the scoop now and the aluminum is pitted. Doesn't bother me unless it's some kind of health risk.
