5.0 out of 5 stars Great idea and easy to use
My boyfriend loves mexican so I got this for his birthday. We don't always like to have burritos so this is a great change. It is soooo easy to use. The only thing I would recommend is if you want your tortilla bowls to have more of a restaurant taste and texture do this: before you put the tortilla into the tortilla bowl brush/coat both sides of the tortilla with olive...

3.0 out of 5 stars Healthy Tortilla Salad Bowl
I use to buy tortilla bowl salads at the Taco restaurant where I live. They cost about $6.00; just for a salad. So I went online to find out how to make them on my own. Other websites had them for a much higher price. I found the bowls on amazon to be good quality for an excellent price. I love this product; I use it twice a week. I use wheat wraps with it and make my own...

My boyfriend loves mexican so I got this for his birthday. We don't always like to have burritos so this is a great change. It is soooo easy to use. The only thing I would recommend is if you want your tortilla bowls to have more of a restaurant taste and texture do this: before you put the tortilla into the tortilla bowl brush/coat both sides of the tortilla with olive oil (or some other kind of oil). The result is a more crispy/flaky tortilla bowl, and it tastes great! :)

Drape the tortilla in the bowl, bake. Wipe clean. The tortilla bowls are crisp and excellent. I am a middle-aged guy just learning to cook. You can handle this too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Makes nice taco shells for taco salads, May 9, 2004
This review is from: Norpro Nonstick Tortilla Bowl Makers, Set of 2 (Kitchen)
The taco shells come out nice and crispy and the cinnamon/sugar recipe suggested on the box is delicious. I wish it had come in a 4-pack set instead of only two, though...gets expensive having to order two sets. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the price which I found a bit excessive considering this is only a pressed metal form that can literally be stamped out for a dime a dozen at the manufactoring plant where they are made.

4.0 out of 5 stars Adjust the baking time for your own taste, September 29, 2008
This review is from: Norpro Nonstick Tortilla Bowl Makers, Set of 2 (Kitchen)
While the instructions indicate an 8 minute baking time, I would strongly suggest that you reduce that time to 5 minutes and then watch the level of browning of the edges. Eight minutes is too much time and causes overdone edges.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as described, May 2, 2006

I've had a set of these for about 10 years. The price seems a little high for 2 thin metal pans. But it's worth it in the long-run. They work perfectly. The shells come out as crispy as frying except there's no extra calories from oil. My 10 year-old pans work and look just like they're brand new. The shells are perfectly formed and look professional on the plate. No mess. No fuss. Just perfect, crispy shells baked in the oven.

These are must-haves if you like to have Taco Salads. The tortillas look so pretty with dip in it. They are non-stick. You do not need to add any oil to the tortilla. This makes the tortilla low fat.

I LOVE these tortilla bowl makers. Very easy to make, spray pan lightly with nonstick spray, lay large white tortilla into bowl pressing against curves, bake about 8 minutes in at 375 degrees. Super nonstick so easy to wash, even a swipe with a paper towel does the job.

4.0 out of 5 stars Use pie weights, February 24, 2006

I love these, except that if you don't use pie weights and stack them, the tortillas puff up.

I use these all the time, and have bought several sets for my friends. I spray some Pam before use, even though they are Teflon. And I prick the bottom of the tortilla with a fork to prevent a bubble. They come out perfectly every time, and are a staple in our summertime menus. The tortillas do shrink with baking, so don't be afraid to use the oversized ones.
