A different opinion . . .,

. . . from the praises given thus far. However, in all honesty I too was taken by the lovely design and idea and so I ordered it from another tea specialty site. (In my then-innocence, I thought if it's on S.....'s site, it has to be good!) After a few weeks of use I noted that there were more tea leaves in my cup than in the infuser -- not a good thing unless you read tea leaves. It seems that the two halves of the infuser no longer fitted together as tightly as they did when it was new -- not that it was exactly old and well used at that point. Try as I may, I could not get the plunger type lock to close the halves; it was stuck where it was and wasn't going to budge except to accept new tea leaves. So I stopped straining my "infused" tea and went back to a reliable tea ball -- cup size -- for my cup of tea. What a waste of $8 !!!

The design itself is a great idea, however, after a few weeks of using this device it ceased to work properly. Now, the push-mechanism used to open the lid of the screen often does not work or gets stuck. In addition, the opposite happens when the device is filled with tea leaves steeping in a teacup - it does not close completely, letting the tea leaves out into the tea cup.
I have cleaned this device both via hand-washing and the dishwasher (since it is stainless steel, the dishwasher theoretically shouldn't harm it), however, nothing seems to work. I wish I had returned it within the first 30 days after I purchased it, but I was out of town - now I am stuck with it. I will look for a better tea infuser - perhaps one with a chain.

Norpro Push N Fill Mesh Tea Infuser
This is the best tea infuser I've ever used! The mesh allows the water to flow through and no tea leaves can escape. The hinge is strong and the spring holds both halves of the mesh ball tightly together. What I like best is that this is all one piece and I don't have to fumble around with screwing two parts together. I open the hinge, scoop up the tea, close it and stick it in a cup of hot water! Brilliant. I use the infuser as a spoon to stir it up, too. I'm ordering several to give as gifts.

Many have complained about them sticking and it's true, if not cleaned properly, the sugar in your tea will cause them to stick. How to clean: Hold them vertically, ball down, and run hot water into handle where small rod slides into larger case about two inches from top. This way the sugar will be washed out of the cylinder and the spring will operate as designed. If you do this often they work fine for years. Enjoy your tea.

I used the product for about 10 days and felt that it was a little to difficult to manage with two hands because of the process of holding it with one and trying to get loose leaf tea in it with the other hand. The flap that opens would sometimes get stuck and it would take some fooling around with it to get it back closed. I would recommend another product for this same purpose.

I've had this for over a month now and have been very happy with it. There have been a few reviews that complained about it breaking, but it has been fine for me. Occasionally when I am shaking the used tea leaves out of it, the catch on the basket gets stuck in the open position, but simply pressing the plunger fully in and wiggling the basket gets it back in the groove. That might sound confusinig, but once you get one you will understand what I mean. All I can figure is the people who broke theirs must have tried to force things the wrong way and snapped something.
In all, this is a good diffuser that works well and is easy to clean.

Purchased this for my wife who loves kitchen gadgets. She was pleased with it and is using this model over others she owned. Even more favorarble than the gadget was the company I bought it from. When I notified them that I had not received the item after a long period they immediately got back to me and sent a replacement. This is a company I would buy from again. Regards Wayne

leaks tea leaves,

Such a good idea--a one piece infuser. But.... it is awkward to fill without dribbling tea all over, and the halves do not fit together snuggly enough to hold the leaves. I end up having to use a strainer. At the hinge the metal is soft, and does not hold its shape. Still looking for the right one.

This is half the price of others I had seen and is easy for my arthritic hands to open and close. It is well made and the mesh is tight.

Great idea for an infuser, worked great a few times. Plunger suddenly would get jamed, come loose from basket, or wouldn't close the basket tightly.....seems has same problems as other negative comments had mentioned. Wouldn't recommened it to anyone.
