I purchased two of these and both came with creases that I can't get out and pie dough still sticks to it; especially butter pastry. The third time that I used one at my son's restaurant, I picked it up off of the counter and the entire right side ripped off. (The day before Thanksgiving and I had about a dozen pies to make!)So I guess I will order something a little thicker and more expensive.

This product is not a quality product. The paint on the pastry mat looks like it will scrap off. I'm not sure that's safe for your food, not to mention it's really flimsy so when it's packaged it's folded up and the folds don't go away. Which makes it hard to use with a bunch of creases where it was folded. This item got returned.

The product features state that this mat is "Ideal for rolling out dough, chopping, slicing and dicing."

PROS: For rolling out dough, it's fantastic. Doesn't slide around the counter, is lightweight and easy to roll up into a small tube. Unrolls without curling. Is large enough for a good-size pie crust. Measurements markings are clear and dark.

CONS: A bit hard to clean unless you lay it out on a flat surface. And do NOT try "chopping, slicing and dicing" unless you use a very dull knife. A sharp knife cuts right through it!

I've had none of the problems discussed in many of the reviews. I've had my mat two months at this writing and have used it for a variety of baking jobs. Two or three times a week.

No blue ink wear or transfer. (I have surprised myself that I've found the printed guides usable and useful.)

No creases that persist. (The packaging crease took a few days to hang out on a towel bar, but its totally gone now.)

No sticking. (I flour, oil or spray the mat as needed like I would any kneading or forming surface. I especially like this mat for folding sorts of tasks because I can just lift the mat and flip the crust or dough into quarters, rolls or what have you.)

No cuts. (OK, I take the other reviewers hints and avoid using knives with this mat. I do wonder if there is any pastry mat that can take a sharp knife? Canvas certainly can't, nor can the polycarbonate plastic of some competing mats.)

No slip sliding on counter. (Formica counter. Cleaned right before smoothing out the mat.)

No particular cleaning problems. (I loosely drape it into quarters and toss into soapy water. After working it clean, I rinse thoroughly and drape over a towel bar to dry.)

I don't know whether I've an Angel sitting on my shoulder or whether Norpro has made some fixes on the printing process. Whichever - I'm quite happy after two months use.

I was very excited about using this mat to roll out our Christmas sugar cookies. The FIRST time I used it, it turned my cookies blue. It seems like a great mat in theory but there is no getting past the fact that the markings came off and turned my cookies blue. Total waste of money.

I didn't even attempt to roll pastry out on this. After reading several reviews I decided to test whether the blue markings would contaminate the pastry so according to instructions I washed the mat before use. The first time I touched the mat I got blue dye all over my fingers, not to mention a blue tea towel when I tried drying the mat. DO NOT waste your money on this product. Save up and get something which won't turn everything blue.

This pastry mat does what it features. However, my biggest concern is that it still turns my dough blue after couple times of use. So I have to scrape the colored part of dough every time when this situation happens. I wish all the markings were printed on the back side of the mat but not on the rolling side.

This is not a good product. I bought it and I immediately returned it. The paint on the pastry mat run into the pastry. I don't know if it's safe for the food, but it doesn't look like nice. It's cheap but the quality is really bad.
