4.0 out of 5 stars Great For Garlic and Herbs
First let me say that I have no experience chopping nuts with this chopper but for chopping garlic and small amounts of herbs I LOVE IT, I cook a lot with both. I dropped it on the ceramic floor and it did break the plastic ring that goes around the bottom so I came on Amazon to order a new one, saw the bad reviews and I wanted to put in my 2 cents worth in before I...

1.0 out of 5 stars A joke!
This grinds about 3 walnuts, it takes all day to chop a cup. Better off chopping by hand.

I bought this thinking that since it is stainless steel it would be strong enough to chop almonds. Wrong. It impales them on the blades on the first chop. I agree with the first reviewer - it takes forever to chop a small amount of softer nuts such as pecans or walnuts.

First let me say that I have no experience chopping nuts with this chopper but for chopping garlic and small amounts of herbs I LOVE IT, I cook a lot with both. I dropped it on the ceramic floor and it did break the plastic ring that goes around the bottom so I came on Amazon to order a new one, saw the bad reviews and I wanted to put in my 2 cents worth in before I placed my order for a one. When I bought my first one at a local gourmet kitchen store they did not call it a nut chopper and told me it was great for chopping and mincing garlic so I bought it. It would work well with any small amount of stuff (except maybe nuts it sounds like). Only complaint hence the 4 stars instead of 5 was that the plastic piece broke (and the floor is very hard) but if it were made of stainless steel you wouldn't be able to see through it to tell when it was chopped sufficiently and of course if it were glass, well that would have been far worse.
