Norpro Stainless Steel Wide-Mouth Funnel

This item is advertised as a wide-mouth funnel. Anything sold to a canner is classified as regular mouth or wide mouth. So, when I order something labeled as wide-mouth, I expect to get something made to fit a wide mouth canning jar. This product does not. It fits a regular mouth jar instead. It matters because the funnel does not rest securely in the mouth of the wide mouth jars, but rattles around. This could cause spilling or burns. Also, many use wide mouth jars to can large items like pickles or okra. You'd likely have a problem easily fitting larger items like pickles and okra through this funnel unless you put the items with tongs one at a time, thus negating the advantage of using a wide mouth jar.

Also, I think this product will not last. Where the handle is tack welded onto the funnel, the contact points are already discolored like rust, fresh out of the package. I'd send it back, but the shipping charge is not worth it. Instead, I hope I can warn others away from this product before they waste money and don't get what they need.

I bought this funnel because I pour hot soup, spaghetti, stew, and other messy foods into a Thermos Stainless Food Jar W/ Folding Spoon 16oz twice a day. My conventional funnel is easily clogged, and neatly pouring hot soup directly from a pot into a thermos is a challenge. Pouring the soup from a pot into a large measuring cup and then into the thermos wasn't much better, as the broth splashed out of the thermos whenever a chunk of meat or vegetable fell in.

My husband purchased this wide-mouth funnel and the spilling and splashing was instantly eliminated. This is the first time that I haven't had to clean soup from the counter or the outside of a thermos food jar! Highly recommended for a tidy kitchen and to reduce the stress of packing hot, homemade meals to go.

This is a great product. Makes filling the jars so much easier and less messy. Works well in small mouth and large mouth jars...Quarts or pints...Non breakable....

this is the best wied mouth funnel I think they make I was very pleased this one is very strong and is larger than most but still the right size for a homemaker that cans once in a while like me, however I sent two to my country cousins who cans alot and she was thrilled and impressed I truely rate this funnel a "10"

This funnel is the best I have used, the mouth is large enough to make filing the jars with hot items very easy, the neck fits the small mouth jars so well it is hands free stable, the fact it is made out of Stainless Steel this should be the last canning funnel I buy.

Purchased to use when canning, however I have found it a fabulous addition to my kitchen what-nots! No longer do I make a mess when pouring soups and sauces; it goes exactly where I need it to go, and not all over the sides of the storage container. Much better than a plastic funnel; I can put this into the dishwasher.

I bought this funnel for canning. So far I have used it for making jam and it functions perfectly for what it was created! It fits perfectly into the jars without space to wobble back and forth--it's a perfect fit! (On standard mouth jars, that is.) And wide! It catches everything. You would have to work hard to dribble over the edge of this thing (within reason). And it is quality stainless steel, thicker and stronger that some funnels I've used. It will definitely resist denting. Plus, it will look great for years to come. Excellent product!

Incredibly well made, high quality, strong, easy to clean and can be used for multiple purposes. A great value for the price and a nice tool to have around the kitchen.

I started canning this year and realized that none of the local stores carry quality canning supplies. I wanted a stainless steel funnel, not a plastic one, because I want it to last forever and I also hate anything plastic. I finally ordered this funnel on Amazon and I am very pleased. It makes canning applesauce so much easier! I didn't have to wipe down all the sticky jars after I filled them with applesauce because the funnel keeps all the applesauce where it belongs. So much faster than trying to fill the jars without it. I haven't tried it with tomatoes or anything else yet because most of my canning was done before I bought it. I'm sure it will get used for many canning seasons to come, and it cleans up great. This will be great for many other uses besides canning. You can use it to jar up pretty much anything that is too chunky to go through a regular funnel, such as leftover pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce. I should have bought it months ago!

This is cheaply made chinese junk... where the handle is riveted to the funnel, the funnel is rough on the inside with the first signs of rust forming. I have not even used it yet, but there is rust forming. TERRIBLE. I am going to attach a photo with a red arrow pointing it out, but it did not turn out as vivid in the picture as it looks in real life. I can't imagine how rusty this will get if it actually gets wet... RMA'ing right now...
