Outstanding historical reference, March 24, 2006
This review is from: North American F-100 Super Sabre (Hardcover)
Exhaustive research on the world's first production supersonic airplane. Excellent history, first-person accounts, and photos: from research into production to Vietnam to service in foreign nations. Also extensive reference materials such as production history, individual aircraft losses (s/n and date) in Vietnam, drone conversions, location of static displays, and much. Definitely the best book on this plane to-date.

F-100 Super Sabre, November 8, 2009
This review is from: North American F-100 Super Sabre (Hardcover)
This jet of the early '50's traces its roots back to the P-51 Mustang and F-86 Sabre. North American Aviation wanted to build a supersonic plane to continue the line of excellent fighters it had become famous for. The F-100 Super Sabre is what resulted.
The author captures the design, development and deployment of each version with a lot of excellent black and white photos, narrative and pilot's stories about the jet fighter. There are 8 pages of color photos and plenty of line drawings, engines, descriptions of the weapons (guns, missles) used by the plane. It also tells about the different NATO nations that used the plane and the F-100 experiences in Vietnam.
The F-100 was a very good plane for its time, well liked by its pilots and this book is a very detailed review of why. I definatately recommend it for anyone interested in US Aviation of the 50's and early 60's.
