1.0 out of 5 stars This game is like skunk road kill. Shockingly stinky., July 27, 2009

I have NEVER played a worse game. This isn't a game it's a nightmare. The sticker price at some retailers is $80. You CANNOT enjoy this game. The hate I felt for this game was immense. I have never even tried to return a game before this because of the clear policies regarding returning software. However I felt it was unethical to allow MY MONEY to go towards this... thing.

Now the review: The gun that can be sold with this is worthless. The sight hole is as large as my TV is. The gun was of very poor construction with a loose barrel at the end. Inserting the wii-mote was a chore that took about 40 minutes to get the little cable to feed down correctly so the nunchuck was being pressed correctly by the side buttons.

The gameplay is confusing. There is a map, but no way to walk around the path that is displayed. The "animals" are animated, but just run in the same circle over and over and you know exactly what they do every time. When you are on the animal the sights turn red... even through large boulders!

The targeting is horrific and the reloads are worse. The amount of force require to reload makes the wii-mote actually rise up out of the poorly constructed gun making the trigger not work until you reseat it. The birds hover at a good 3 MPH and are the size of the big horn sheep.

If you need to get your money back from this horrid game I recommend you tell them that the game is defective and get a replacement. Then just return the replacement (unopened) for a full refund. Do not allow anyone to get money for this pile.

2.0 out of 5 stars Needs Some work on Gun Mechanics, May 10, 2009

I bought this game because my four sons and I enjoy hunting. The areas are realistic, but something is wrong with the gun mechanics. Reloading doesn't work quickly all the time. Typically if there is something on the screen that you can shoot at it won't let you reload. The shots don't track the targets either, so you don't want to lead your target. Also, you can be dead on a target and you'll miss, or just slightly off and you'll get a "Clean Kill" It is too frustrating for my younger sons to play and my older sons and I find the rifle mechanics anoying.

1.0 out of 5 stars don't buy!, December 12, 2010

I got this game as a gift and all I can say is WOW! This is by far the worst Hunting game I have ever played! the biggest problem with this game is reloading! You practically have to throw your shoulder out trying to reload and once it finally does You are aiming no where near where you started and have pretty much lost all interest in shooting the animal running in circles anyway! I threw the game away on the basis that I don't want anyone else going through that ridiculous headache that I did trying to play it!

2.0 out of 5 stars The Re-Load Dance, October 29, 2009
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: North American Hunting Extravaganza (Video Game)
I bought this game as a Birthday gift for my husband. It came with the Wii Sharp Shooter.

-Inserting the actual Wii-mote and nunchuck into the Sharp Shooter was terrible. Too many steps especially if you use the Wii motion plus.

-The play value lasted only enough until you finished the hunting season which only consisted of three maps and a practice map (4 in all).

-The animatation is awkward when walking, running, and turning.

-The animals pretty much stayed in the same places. They might run around a little, but then stop. If you miss when they are stopped they run around a little again and stop. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

-We nick-named re-loading the gun into the "re-loading" dance. It was totally ridiculous. I am shocked we didn't break anything in the process of re-loading.

***I will say however, that the areas looked realistic.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't even waste your time or money on this game..., August 31, 2011
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: North American Hunting Extravaganza (Video Game)
This is the worst example of a Wii game that I have ever seen and or purchased. I wish I would have read the other reviews here on Amazon before I spent the money at another retailer even though I thought I was getting a good deal. The graphics are cheap looking and low resolution although you would think that they are HD based on how long it takes for the game steps to load. The targeting mechanics are even worse and your wildlife prey are like cardboard cut outs randomly bouncing around and sliding across the screen. Better wear your wrist strap if you don't have the Zapper, the amount of force required to reload (usually consisting of several attempts) could send your control flying - incidently there are no points gained for throwing your controller at the screen - although you will be very tempted! Too bad Amazon doesn't have a rating of less than one, this game would certainly earn it hands down.

I do own North American Hunting Extravaganza 2 and it's actually not too bad. Just skip this 1st edition version and go straight for the 2nd one to save yourself alot of headaches in advance.

1.0 out of 5 stars I would rather have dental work!, November 25, 2010
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: North American Hunting Extravaganza (Video Game)
After spending the 45 minutes to properly insert the Wii remote and numchuck in the sniper rifle for the 3rd time because the gun points 2 feet below the cross hairs on the screen, I accepted that aiming would not be possible. During the actual play of the game the gun has to be reloaded, this is where you get your exercise, this may as well be a Wii Fit game. Shaking the run is an understatement, it is more like violently thrashing about with the gun until the remote flies out of the gun body. At this point I decided that it was easier to play the game without the gun! Some hunting game. POOR FORM GAME DESIGNERS.....You should be ashamed to sell this.
Two BIG THUMBS DOWN!
