Ok, I understand the complaints regarding the 15 minute Auto Shut Off burner feature. People were lighting these things and walking away to watch a football game, or whatever, and forgot all about the cooker. That caused BIG PROBLEMS (like Fires)! So now you have to punch a button (like on Lost) every 15 minutes (or less). to keep the burner lit.

The whole idea is to keep the user engauged in what should be a very safe opperation (unless you have a burner that doesn't shut off automatically and you forget to check it at reasonable intervals). You don't have to wait 15 minutes. Whenever you push the button it resets the timer and gives you another 15 minutes of burner time.

At first it was a slight aggravation to me. What, do these people think I'm so stupid as to walk off and forget my cooker! But then, realistically, I've done similar things so I've realized it's really for the best. I think it may save some really BIG Aggravation in the long run. Not for me, of course, but I'm thinking for someone else! ;-)

Anyway, the thing works great, cooks an awesome turkey and has some very nice features I didn't find in other cookers. It has a large, expanded opening at top which A) Makes it easy to put even a big turkey in and B) makes it virtually idiot proof for overfilling and spilling the oil being displaced by the turkey, which is the 2nd BAD Thing that can happen with oil based turkey friers.

The 3rd big issue (knocking the thing over) -Very Bad!- is also virtually idiot proof with the sturdy, widely spaced legs.

Is it perfect for everyone? I guess not according to some reviews. But if you want a great cooker at a great price that forces you to do the job safely (even if it aggravates you a bit), then this is your cooker!

I was afraid of turkey fryers but always wanted to try a fried turkey. With all of the safety features on this unit I felt like I could give it a try. I am very happy I did! The base, pot and extra space at the top to keep the oil from overflowing are all great. The timer is easy to use and the clean up is very easy as well. If you have ever been nervous about frying a turkey before - this is your solution!

This turkey fryer was given to me as a gift on fathers day and I can honestly say, this is one of the best gifts ever. This fryer takes the anxiety out of frying turkeys or whatever else you choose to use it for. If you have kids, it's good to know that this thing won't tip over easily or be knocked off the stand! All around great fryer!

First off, I love that this thing sits "in" the legs. I felt way safer cooking in this compared to my old fryers. Only 2 issues...
1) I was short 2 screws. The package that had the screws, batteries etc. was labeled like I've never seen before. It was also taped closed on the back - it looked like it was open and obviously taped closed. So that might be the reason for the missing screws.
2) While frying the turkey on Thursday, the flame never got to be where I wanted it. It was way too yellow/orange. I tinkered with the air control and gas flow as well as set up a barrier (very little wind: <5mph) to try and get the flame to be more blue. The pot is pretty black now haha, but it will be fine. The oil got to temp, but it would have been nice to fix the flame and get it up to temp quicker. I'll figure something out.

This is an excellent Turkey Fryer, BUT there is no basket made for it. If you want to boil crabs or fry fish you will have to purchase a basket from another manufacturer. I called the company and there are no plans to make a basket for it. So if you want to do more than just fry turkeys be prepared to purchase a basket elsewhere.

Really sturdy, well built, and well thought out product. While I agree the 15 min timer can be mildly annoying at times, it hasn't been enough of an annoyance for us to want to return it . We don't normally leave the turkey fryer unattended for more than 20 mins or so at a time anyway and you can reset at any time. I really like that the pot nests in the stand rather than just sit on it like other fryers. The pot itself is thicker than other fryers we've had so I can see it taking a lot of wear and tear well. The handles on the stand make it easier to put the turkey in slowly so that was a plus, too. It took about ½ an hour to put together, so that wasn't too bad. Our turkey came out great . I recommend.

This item was purchased as a gift for my brother who had always wanted to "fry a turkey". It is the best turkey fryer I have seen anywhere. Structurally sound, heavy duty in fact, safety features are great, and my brother was extremely happy. His friends who have the standard turkey fryers were asking him where he found it. Wonderful way to celebrate a holiday and give thanks is to give a gift such as this.

I've been frying turkey for many years but the quality of the frying units has left me wanting. I've spent too many a cold holiday with vice grip and duct tape in hand, trying to keep the fire going and temperature set correctly. I just purchased this cooker and I must say this is an excellent unit which is very well thought out. High quality construction. Very safe and stable. Convenient (electric starter). Great control over fire and temperature. You can tell this was developed by someone who fries... the drain valve is a great touch, and it even has a secondary cap to further prevent leaks. The basket used to transport and raise / lower the turkey is much more stable and provides greater control than the cheap hooks used by other units. Yes, the 15 minute reset can be somewhat annoying, but if you consider that you can fry 15 pounds in under an hour, you only have to reset it 2-3 times. Since you really shouldn't be leaving the unit unattended too long, it's a small price (and probably worthwhile) to pay to get a high quality unit like this at a very good price. I've spent more time outside with the lower quality cookers just trying to keep the flame burning anyway! Highly recommended.

The North American Outdoor Turkey Saf-T cooker works very well. It was a breeze to set up and the parts were well engineered. The stability of the frier even when full of oil is fantastic. No more concerns about the pot sliding off the burner or tipping over. The auto shut off was a little bit of a pain but it really does work as intended; forcing the cook to be attentive to the frier and thus avoiding a fire. I also really liked the faucet at the bottom of the frier. It makes emptying out and cleaning the oil easy and much less messy. Good Job!!

My husband loves fried turkey - year round. :) So I got this as a surprise. It is easy to assemble. And we have no worries about our dog ever knocking this over. The stand and the way the pot fits in it makes for a very safe and sturdy cooker. The spout makes for easy clean up. The turkey came out delicious!!
