5.0 out of 5 stars RECIPES YOU THOUGHT WERE GONE FOREVER
Let me just say you will be amazed at the recipe's that are in this book. I know I was. Remember Mom's cooking and Grandma's cooking? How you begged them for the recipe and how they would never give the recipes or omit some of the ingredients so it would never quite taste the same? How many of those recipes have gone to the grave with them? Well they are in this book and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Classic Italian American Home Cooking
I picked up this cookbook for several reasons. The first is that I live in Boston and have always eaten in the North End so a cookbook with recipes from that neighborhood seemed appealing. The second is that I am Italian American and although I don't remember classic dishes being made for me I am always curious about my heritage.

This cookbook is a...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for beginners of Italian cooking, January 18, 1999
I found this book under the title of the North End Union Italian Cookbook. This is the revised version. I am of Italian heritage, and found the recipes to be just like my nonna and mother made. The recipes are easy, delicious, andd truly Italian. A must for anyone wanting to cook traditional Italian food from antipasto to biscotti.

I hesitated to order since I have so many Italian cookbooks. This is a must have! Growing up in NY lots of recipes in here you loved especially from your Italian grandparents & didn't know what went in it or forgot about until you see the recipes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Boston Italian, July 30, 2003
By A Customer
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! I'm half Italian and I grew up outside of Boston. My Dad stumbled across this book and I had to buy him a new one. I stole his original copy and it's covered w/ splotches from all of the good things I've cooked. The recipes are authentic and very easy to make. I'd recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Italian from Somerville,MA, August 9, 2003
By A Customer
What a delight, finding a cookbook with everything my mother cooked but I didn't ask for the how to's. I've tried many many of these recipes and they were great. My mom threw in a bit of this a pinch of that a palm.. of this other but I never wrote them down. Now I know quantities for many many of mom's dishes. Thanks Marguertie

5.0 out of 5 stars Italian American at Its Best, October 7, 2007

I know that Italian American cooking is out of style, but it still puts a smile on my families face. My brothers, our wives and children rave when I cook Ma's food. But I have a secret, I don't cook Ma's food. She was unfortunately, gone before I got her recipes. I cook Marguerite's food. I bought this book in the late 80's and it fell apart from love. This book will bring back memories or make them, five stars.

Reminded me of the recipes my grandmother use to make while growing up in New England. Many traditional italian recipes. Was given to me as a gift and I will purchase several as gifts as well. Will there another? Thank you.

4.0 out of 5 stars perfect, easy, real italian, March 20, 2008
By
This review is from: The North End Italian Cookbook, 5th (Paperback)
perfect, easy, real Italian. Recipes are no fail. When I lived in the North end in the 90's (pre nouveau) everything tasted this good. But be careful, the Pignoli cookie recipe calls for 1 pound of pine nuts, (thats like $25!) You only really need 5 oz or so. Must be a misprint.
