5.0 out of 5 stars Deserves 500 Stars!!!!!
Man I am still exploding from listening to this awesome display of melodic death metal. These guys rule! Extreme melodic riffs that will have any melodic death metal fan excited. Who can resist 2 albums for the price of one that both helped shape the melodic death metal scene today. "North From Here" is the better of the two cds and is so damn good. Absolutely...

2.0 out of 5 stars This album sucks
If you like sentenced which i do you probally think oh two c.d.'s for the price of one well don't because their later albums are much better unless you are into heavy death metal of which is just screaming i recommend frozen or crimison. these two albums had complicated and immense guitar and lyrics when you could understand the lyrics so if you plan on singing to this...

4.0 out of 5 stars The Northernmost Killers are on the prowl..., April 30, 1999

Needless to say, anyone who has heard any of Sentenced's recent recordings knows they are far from being death metal... well, such was not always the case. "North From Here" is an aggressive and finely crafted work of death metal artistry. This album is a must for any fan of great death metal (tho it may not sit well with fans of the newer incarnation of Sentenced). On all counts a very good album, not perfect, but indeed very, very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definately A Great Album, September 18, 2002
This review is from: North From Here / Shadows in the Past (Audio CD)
When I first heard this, I got into it right away. Not everyone can play this type of metal and sound this good. Not only that, but they can play other types of metal as well (try sampling Amok/Love And Death). Personally, I like them this way the best though. The vocals are great, and it goes real good along with the rest of it. If you are into metal (and I mean REAL metal, not the trendy empty stuff) you should definately give this one a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Melodic Death Metal from an amazing band., September 25, 2000
This review is from: North From Here / Shadows in the Past (Audio CD)
With "North From Here" Sentenced prove that they can do all forms of metal. Indeed this may be too harsh for new listeners, but give it a few tries and it will quickly become glued to your CD player. The best track is probably "Capture Of Fire."

5.0 out of 5 stars The old Sentenced is just to good!, December 11, 2004

I'm a fan of Sentenced (with Taneli Jarva OR Ville at vocals), and with that just too good death metal, i'm just ...wow. I've found these cd's (North from here & Shadows of the past) simply perfect. It's all the power of the vocal and the perfect guit (In 'the trooper' (Iron Maiden Cover) i've found the quality of the guit almost like COB! (Children Of Bodom) ! These cd's are really good, if you like Sentenced and/or Death Metal you'll enjoy listening to these tracks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Origin of Finnish metal, February 26, 2007
By
This review is from: North From Here / Shadows in the Past (Audio CD)
Before Amorphis, before Children of Bodom, before Insomnium, there was Sentenced. With influences from Candlemass to Metallica, Sentenced played an early form of melodic death metal most accuratley described as At the Gates meets Kreator. Often bordering on straight-up thrash, North from Here is looked at by melodeath fans as the true origin of melodic death metal. However, dont think of this as a In Flames clone, they are so much more. If your going to buy only one melodeath album this year, definately pick this up. Fans of melodeath in general will cherish this.
