4.0 out of 5 stars six action-packed stories of love, acceptance, betrayal and mystery, February 5, 2009
This review is from: North of Nonesuch (The first 5 books in the series with a bonus story) (Paperback)
"The Turquoise Mask" - When Lloyd Lowell died, he left a deadly secret to be uncovered by his daughter, Jamie Lowell. Aided by a cryptic letter left by her father, she must find the turquoise mask. Zach Tregarth, a sexy anthropologist, knows the danger the turquoise mask represents. Can he effectively acquire the mask and return it to the rightful owner before Jamie meets an untimely death like her father did?

"The Turquoise Cat" - Raoul Dekalb is a DNR officer in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Residents have been reporting cougar sightings in the area, and though the DNR are taking the reports seriously, they aren't ready to confirm there is a cougar on the loose. Olivia Summer just moved from California to take up residence in her recently-deceased great-aunt's house. She also hears the cougar and reports it. Things start getting strange when Raoul can't seem to recall large chunks of his evening activities. And why are all the cats he encounter hissing at him?

"The Turquoise Talisman" - Ella Rose inherited a strange family heirloom - a dagger. Stranger, though, is the male that comes with it. Talal Aziz says he is the guardian of the dagger. Talal informs Ella they must form a union to protect the talisman. Ella is understandably wary of him, though with enemies drawing near, she must place her trust in Talal, who may be more than what he seems.

"Turquoise Twilight" - Talissa Hunter won a contest for a trip to Romania consisting of a trek through Dracula Country. The tour group ends up at Twilight Castle where Talissa meets Marcus Zugaric, wounded and lying on the side of the road. With the help of local monks, she gives him a blood transfusion. He is still unconscious when she leaves Romania, but it doesn't take long for him to find her in her small Michigan town. Things heat up when they learn Marcus has been marked by the vampire who attempted to drain him. But vampires don't exist...do they?

"Let My Bones Rest" - Andrea Johansen is an archeologist on a mission. Mounds found in Michigan's Upper Peninsula may contain Viking or Native American remains. Hart Blackstone arrives on the scene as a Native American observer. He believes all ancient remains should be left as they are. Andrea Johansen believes humans can learn from the finds. But it's the grave-robbers that pose the biggest threat. Once the potential robbers find Andrea and Hart, Hart knows the robbers have only one option: kill those who saw them.

"Capricorn Capers" - Krystal Kapp has dreams of being chased by a half-man, half-animal. Worse, she hears a voice in her head during waking hours - a voice that identifies itself as Shadrach Capprich. What she learns in his secluded cabin sends her into action: her sister, Myla, has disappeared. Can she, along with her strange new acquaintance, find her sister before it's too late?

The North of Nonesuch Anthology gives you six action-packed stories of love, acceptance, betrayal and mystery. The heroes are sexy alpha-males, and the heroines are strong, independent women. The paranormal elements involved are intriguing and keep you turning the pages. Each story is rich and entertaining. Jane Toombs packs an emotional punch to her writing that I find highly refreshing.
