The pop-up shade envied by others, August 26, 2006
This review is from: North Pole 10- by 10-Foot First-Up Straightwall Gazebo (Blue) (Sports)
We purchased the North Pole tent to use with our camping trailer. Last weekend it went for its first trip, I was camping at an event where everyone had shade tents (it was 97 degrees out). When I arrived friend came over to help me get set up, seeing that I had a new shade tent it became a focus of interest (I was grateful to have a hand as it doesn't seem likely 1 person can set this up on their own). Comparing our tent to all the others we are very happy with our choice (most folks hve an E-Z up or QuickShade).
North Pole Pros:
- More stably built, two arm support at the corner to the roof brace and an overall stronger feel to the frame.
- Velcro on the corners to help hold the top on, especially nice when setting up in wind.
- Velcro straps at the middle of each side of the top cover, to secure the top to the frame (it's now held at each corner and the middle of each expanse with velcro in addition to a tight fit).
- Velcro straps at the middle of the support arms to the top of the tent (roof braces), to help secure the top to the frame.
- Push buttons over the metal release buttons so you don't kill your thumb trying to lower the tent or when you take it down.
- Great wheeled carrying case.
- Cost LESS then the other tents (and delivered to my front door).
The only two things that could hopefully be improved upon (these are an issue with all these pop-up shades) are the overall weight and being able to set it up and take it down with one person. However, they provided a very nice wheeled case to help with the weight and the added velcro on the corners may allow me to set it up myself if I inch around it in a circular manner.

Overall I'm Happy :-), September 18, 2006
This review is from: North Pole 10- by 10-Foot First-Up Straightwall Gazebo (Blue) (Sports)
I won't mention the price I purchased this for but it was dam good (probably the cheapest ever listed) and free shipping can't be beat!
I probably could have put it up myself but it would have definitely taken some time.
I had 1 person to help me put it up. We struggled a bit but no biggie.
Taking it down I had 3 people helping and that made a big difference.
If there are 4 people to put it up and take it down let me tell you, that's the way to go.
It rained and the seams are not sealed so it leaked a tiny bit in various spots. Good for anyone else to know ... so make sure you seal the seams first.
The canopy is still attached to the frame and the bag it comes with has an extra zipper to expand the upper part where it's now bulky. No problem packing it back inside the carrying case.

Great Canopy, August 27, 2006
This review is from: North Pole 10- by 10-Foot First-Up Straightwall Gazebo (Blue) (Sports)
I used this canopy on the beach in Hilton Head with 20 mile an hour winds, and it held up great. It offers a large footprint of shade, and has guy-wire type supports for the four corners. The height has 3 adjustments. It is well-made and easy to put up with 2 people (easier with 4). Drawbacks are it is heavy (around 35lbs I think) so lugging it to the beach is a chore. The instructions recommend removing the top before folding, so that is a little extra work compared to canopies that fold with the tarp still attached. Overall, we were quite happy and came home without sunburns!
