This review is from: North Pole Christmas Express Train Set (Toy)
Now that I have a child , I wanted a train to go around the tree so I purchased this set. I priced many sets online and they're pretty expensive $100-$250. For my purpose this one works just fine. It's a little flimsy and the cars come unattached fairly easily but it was only $60, so you basically get what you pay for. It plays Christmas songs but doesn't have a volume control- wish it did, it's a little loud. It goes forward and backward but has no speed control- again, wish it did. Overall, I am very pleased with this train set. I used only the curved tracks so it goes right around my Christmas tree skirt and looks adorable. If you want something durable with more features shop around, if you want a cute little train that's only used for a few days a year, this will work.

I wanted a battery operated Christmas train with the big smokestack and cow catcher so I chose this North Pole Christmas Express Train set.
I have made many purchases from amazon.com and in the largest percentage have been pleased with my purchases until now. I assembled the track ( not enough straight track ). I purchased the 4 C-cell batteries as is required. I put the engine and coal tender on then santa and reindeer next was the elves hand car followed by the caboose. This hand car is causing derailment all the time and I even placed it behind the caboose and it still causes derailment. The engine moves faster in reverse than it does going forward. It seems to struggle getting around the track going forward. These companies need to have quality control of their products. HEY WHO KNOWS MAYBE I JUST GOT A LEMON regardless if is or not I'am no pleased at all. .Yes I know I am not getting a Bachman or a Lionel but it still cost me money and especially if I have to return it.

Cute train, but it's really big so you need some space around your tree. The worst thing is the noise (not the music, just the noise it makes when it works). It is so unbearable we decided to return it although our kids love it.
