This cd was quite surprising. This album is unique due to the fact that lead singer and guitarist Jeff Schneeweis covered all of the instrumental parts. On top of that, he mixed, and self produced the entire album. This is not by any means a perfect cd but it most definitely lives up to the Number One Gun standard. Jeff is a truly talented man and needless to say, he IS Number One Gun.

Great melodic rock album that lives up the expectations.

I was first introduced to Number One Gun through their second album Promises for the Imperfect, and to be honest, I was not impressed. There were about four songs I liked on that album and I would occasionally listen to them. One day, on a two hour drive, I listened to the whole album, and something just clicked. I fell in love. His voice is amazing, the lyrics, while infectious, we also insightful and intelligent, and the music was nothing short of moving. Of course, it is a common fact among music fans that the albums that take longer to fall in love with are the best ones.
I bought this album when it came out, but much like its predecessor, The North Pole Project did not fully entrance me. Some songs caught my attention ("The Massacre," "The Best of You and Me," and "Bad Habits" namely), but for the most part, I did not pay much attention to it. Then, on another two hour drive, I was listening to it and something just clicked. I cannot quit listening to it since that drive, which was some time ago.
Number One Gun seems to me to be one of those bands who will fall between the cracks, but if you will take the time to listen to them, they can easily become a favorite. This album is not a far leap from Promises, though the lyrics are somewhat more cynical--an element that usually adds to the depth--despite the supposed death and rebirth of the band--kept alive only by the lead singer. For a pop-punk album it is above average in that it is not entirely radio friendly (not Fall Out Boy), but for a "Christian" album, it is spectacular. Anyone looking for a catchy pop-punk album in the style of Relient K will not be disappointed, and anyone in search of a meaningful but fun album should enjoy this disc as well.
