5.0 out of 5 stars The best band you've never heard of..., January 18, 2007

Saw them open for Broken Social Scene a few years ago and was mezmerized. This is a tough album to describe; I tell my friends that it is both the mellowest and heaviest album I own... crank it up with some quality hifi gear, enjoy a few favorite beverages and you'll see what I mean. I have to give these guys full marks for creativity, musicianship, production and even the album art is wicked! The best compliment I can give this album is that I own several hundred CD's (of all genres) and this remains amongst my top 10 of ALL TIME. If you can find it, buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars It gets better each time...., May 28, 2006
This review is from: North Sea (Audio CD)
I bought this album a week ago and I have been playing it nonstop ever since. It is not only awesome, but it is really interesting, too. Each time I listen, I hear different, beautiful nuances. If you like cool guitar work, then this album is definitely for you. The best track, in my opinion, is "The North Sea" - it is darkly beautiful and just blows my mind every time I hear it. "Eta" is also awesome, and a great way to end the album. Buy a copy and listen to it in a dark room with the volume way up on kick ass speakers.

5.0 out of 5 stars a perfectly constructed masterpiece, June 18, 2004

Due to my love for last years Broken Social Scene record, I decided to check out Raising the Fawn, the main project of John Crossingham who also happens to be one of the members of BSS. This is a very special recording. Crossingham's band manages to keep things varied throughout the record with fantastic results. The obvious standout to me is the single Gwendolyn, but really all the tracks here are excellent. Definitely a must buy for all indie guitar rock fans.
