Kudos to Amanda Harte, October 1, 2006
This review is from: North Star (Mass Market Paperback)
North Star is historical romance with a purpose. Prejudice and abuse haunt society and kudos to Amanda Harte for tackling these issues in her powerful story. The Underground Railroad was a beacon of humanitarian consciousness during a dark time in America's history and the hero's willingness to risk everything to conduct slaves to safety is inspiring. That he is also conflicted about his compassion and charity only makes him more human. The heroine's grit and bravery make their match a winning combination and this book a delicious read.

Amanda Harte
This book started out as a compelling story. It had an excellent storyline and kept me interested...until the end. Ms. Harte kept the conflict and emotional tug of war going in a believable manner. I'm not sure what happened or how the thought process went but the conflict ended so abruptly that I had to reread the pages a couple of times to see if I misunderstood. It is as if the author said, ok time to end the conflict...I'll have the doctor claim his love and poof she will forget all about her issues and jump in bed with him. Disappointing.
