Deluxe heavy duty wood construction. 3 compartments to accommodate approximately 20 to 25 bats. Easy to mount to trees, house, post, fence, etc. House should be placed 10 to 15' high and not have anything near the entrance to the house. This item is simply not a good bat box. I did some research before buying and chose this model mainly because of the price. The description does not provide valuable information, such as size. This box does not contain any of the recommended features for a successful bat shelter.
The interior of bat boxes has to be grooved, roughed, or contain some material (such as screening)for the bats to cling on to. The interior of this box has been sanded smooth - very smooth. Bat boxes need to have a "landing plate" for the bats to fly to and land before climbing up in to the shelter. This box has nothing like that. Bat boxes should be assembled with screws to prevent separation over time, and boxes should be sealed for insulation. This box is assembled with tiny nails, and the seams are not sealed. I highly doubt that this box would survive more than a couple of years before it split open and became unusable. From what I have researched, which is quite a bit, this particular box will not provide suitable shelter for bats if any even bothered to roost in it. I am returning this one to the seller and ordering a bat shelter that stands a better chance of attracting,and keeping a nice colony of bats.

House is small enough not to be obtrusive and well constructed.

It is made of cedar with the roughness of the wood on the inside so the little bat feet can grab on.

There are two holes drilled in the back and this was very easy to hang.

Just hang it up away from the house (unless you wants the bats invading your chimney or attic) and wait for the bats to move in!

I bought this bat house last year, and within 2 months, a huge hole was bore by a woodpecker, which has me asking the obvious question, "Is this commonplace with cedar wood bat houses? Does a bat house have to be made of softer wood to be effective?" The hole made by the woodpecker has nullified this project, and I have to start over with a new house. I'm tempted to try another type of house (need to research a bit) that may be more durable. One thing is certain: They say to hang it 10-15 feet off the ground. I think 15 feet should be the height. Ten feet doesn't seem like enough height. It's safe to say that you get what you pay for with this product.
