A great book for a Fan of Northern Exposure. Rob Morrow really captures the behind the scenes activity and personalities of the cast. I loved it!

This could have been a very special book. The pictures were great and it was interesting to see some of the background work that went on during the filming. I especially enjoyed the photo of John Corbett's dressing room door. However, it seemed to be a rushed job and there weren't enough captions to go with the pictures. I would have appreciated it more if it were longer and more detailed. On the other hand, I know I'll peruse it often!

A must for any true NX fan,
This review is from: Northern Exposures: Photographs (Paperback)
Rob Morrow gave this book his signature which is revealing very little about the people in the series but I guess that is subjective. I was disappointed that there were not hardly any pictures of the cast but a lot of the other crew members, that, sorry, guys, I am not as interested in. It was not worth what I paid.

This book is a must for all of us NX fans!,

Rob Morrow's book is not only a wonderful look at the back ground taping of NX, but a beautiful collection of prints. He is talented in many ways and experiencing his photography has made me love him all the more. He has a great eye, and brings you so close to the real actors in his very candid and honest black and whites. He seems to capture the real people so well, it is hard to describe. The insight is commendable and the book itself an absolute must. I feel very fortunate to have purchased it here at Amazon, who knows where I could have found it otherwise! If you are a big fan, buy it. If you are simply a lover of fine photography, and not a fan, I would urge you to buy it as well. My paricular favorite is a self portrait from THINGS BECOME EXTINCT. A great book!!!

A delightful little "family album",

Due to a newfound appreciation for Rob Morrow, I've been checking out some of his other work. As I was looking into the availability of his other projects, I came across . . . what's this? . . . he's authored a book? A book of photography? Of Northern Exposure? Well, I must check this out.
And I was pleasantly surprised! It's a small book, a softcover, but it's a delightful "family album" of Mr. Morrow's castmates and the crew that made NX a reality (if anything in Cicely can be considered "real"). In the introduction, Morrow gives a brief but insightful account of how the book came into being, starting with his interest in photography. He tells about how he used his downtime between shots to take photographs, and how his particular favorites often ended up as gifts to the subjects of the photos. The photographs in this book are all black and white, taken during the show's 3rd and 4th seasons. Some of the pics are intriguingly artistic, with very creative lighting and shot composition. Some are whimsical. Some are candids of cast and crew, either at work or hamming it up for the camera. Some are simply portraits of the people that made up this production "family." The captions, too, show goodnatured insight into the people who worked on the show. And I especially like the self-portrait of the author, whom you'd never recognize if you didn't know who it was. Overall, it's a nice little read if you're interested in behind-the-scenes views of TV production or if you're a fan of the show, the author, or photography in general.

This is a book of candid shots of the whole cast, excluding Rob. Some are cute. It was worth the $2.00 I paid in a used book store.

The book was enjoyable enough, but I was a little disappointed we didn't see more of the people from the show. Walt for example, Eve, Dave etc. All great faces. I'm sure the background people meant a lot to Rob, but I'd have rather seen all the characters I fell in love with. I still would have bought the book though. Publish another one Rob!

Northern Exposures: Photographs--Rob Morrow,
By Charles Hamilton Sr. "The Bookworm of Humming... (LaPlata, Maryland) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Northern Exposures: Photographs (Paperback)
This was my favorite television show because of the writing. The programs creator David Chase used a different director for each episode. His characters sometime dream sequences in the episodes were brilliantly innovative and fresh and became a trademark that would surface in later years in another huge hit, The Sopranos.
It amazed me how the story's continuity was always tight, even though a new person was at the wheel directing that weeks episode. The actors were so well cast that when the main character, Dr. Fleishman (Rob Morrow) left for New York in a later episode and was replaced with a new doctor, the show was never the same, as this severed Dr. Fleishman's volitile entanglement with Maggie, played by Janine Turner, substituting this with a new doctor from Los Angeles who was cast with a wife. This change in dynamic caused the show to suffer. Northern Exposure episodes were written with fresh intelligence and creativity as Mr. Chase showed his understanding of diverse relationships, coupled with an innate ability to transfer them to his audience. Mr. Morrow's pictures in this book reflect that cast member cohesion. Charles Hamilton Sr, Former Executive Director Northwest Teen Challenge, author: "From Darkness To Light" and "A Step Of Faith."
