Creepy Campfire Tales, March 19, 2009
This review is from: Northern Haunts: 100 Terrifying New England Tales (Paperback)
Lots of spoooky smorgasbord in this creepy collection. Even more fun if you are familiar with the Northeast. Great nighttime reading--- but not if you're alone in the house. Leave the lights on!

These 100 fast-reading stories are amazing!, March 1, 2009

Each spooky short tale has it's own memorable traits and this book in it's entirety is well worth purchasing. My daughter (who is 15) and I took turns reading this to each other before bed and had a lot of fun with it!

A great collection of stories!, February 22, 2009
This review is from: Northern Haunts: 100 Terrifying New England Tales (Paperback)
I've read a few of the offerings from Shroud publishing since they opened up shop and this one does not disappoint.
This book is also the perfect travel reader, I picked this up last week prior to going on a trip, it was perfect for getting in some interesting reading and not needing to worry about investing a lot of time, its easy to pick back up wherever you leave off.
As if that wasn't enough reason to enjoy it, there's 100 horror filled stories packed into it with New England as the backdrop. There's plenty of history and lore from this area of the country and these stories tap into some of that, while others give you a new flavor of something even darker. I could go into some of my favorites but with 100 stories there's too many to mention here.
Reader Beware: Clearly some very talented writers contributed to this book, for those of you who enjoy New England as a vacation spot, let's just say that planning your next camping trip to the white mountains,a B&B along the scenic coastline of Maine, or even a quick stop into Salem, Mass to get a taste of local legend, this may have you thinking twice....
These are only scary stories for a campfire, aren't they?
