Did you bother to visit Alaska?,

Don't bother reading... I couldn't get past inaccurate basic information about Alaska. Even a Google search would have shown that elk are not located anywhere near Anchorage.

Ok people...,
This review is from: Northern Hearts: A Novel (Paperback)
The book has a product description which runs: "This exciting and tender novel will captivate anyone who likes stories of romance and adventure". PLEASE!!! Although I admit it was exciting in parts (because of a blizzard) there was absolutely no emotion to this book. The characters were flat, dull, monotone, and interacted like they were robots. If you like Christian romance you'll most likely want to pass this one up.

Refreshing,
This review is from: Northern Hearts: A Novel (Paperback)
This book is a relaxing read for a quiet evening. The setting is vivid, the characters and the action in the story are very well matched. Having read this novel I feel as if I have breathed in the fresh air of Alaska. I have a feeling this story could have a sequel? I would enjoy it!

Turn Away,
By Butterscotch (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Northern Hearts: A Novel (Paperback)
I bought this book because the cover looked dreamy and romantic, and the setting of Alaska had me intrigued. I was expecting an Alaskan romance between a big-city girl and a backwoods mountain-man. Well.. this book was a terrible disappointment. There was a complete lack of romance, the characters were dull and boring, and the plot was dreary. Tessa is an anthropology professor that travels from Wisconsin to Alaska to study ancient people and their languages/customs, and along the way meets fellow Americans who help introduce her to native tribes. The writing was just slow and painful and the book itself lacked `fire.' The end was a disappointment as well - the back of the book indicated a romance, but that never came to fruition and in the end Tessa chooses no one - not that her choices were all that great. I'm not sure who decided to print this book - it's not Christian, it's not romantic, and it's not even a good story. Zero stars.
