I'm not the one who writes reviews for anything but I was a bit surprised to see no reviews for this mix so I said "why not do it?"

If you like Gareth Emery, then you cannot go wrong with this set. And if you have not heard about him, why not start here?

The first song, Arrival, set the tone so well that I knew this was going to be amazing. And it was. Each and every song fits perfectly into this mix; I never said, "this songs does not seem to belong..." And still, there is a lot of variety in the songs - each of them feels unique. This mix doubles (at least according to me) as something you would want to dance to and also something you would want to relax to. It's perfect for a long car trip or a jog.

It has a blend of both instrumental trance and vocal trance, perfectly mixed into each other. I remember getting goosebumps listening to this set and was amazed when Gareth threw his three "heavy hitters" back to back - Into the Light, Fight the Sunrise, and Sanctuary (I didn't read the track-list beforehand). I just have no words to describe the feeling when those three played in a row.

But it's not just those three songs that are excellent, the whole CD is! Now that I listened to it more than three times, every song is special and brings out a certain feeling in the listener.

This was the first mix I listened to that belonged to Gareth (I had previously listened to his singles) and he has definitely left an impression on me. I definitely consider him to be one of my favorites, alongside Christopher Lawrence and Lisa Lashes.

In the end, if you like Trance, pick this up. You will definitely not be disappointed.

(I hope this has helped to a certain extent. I usually don't write reviews so I apologize if I didn't cover anything.)

I was excited to hear about "Northern Lights Re-Lit", as I am a huge fan of the original Northern Lights, but I've gotta say it was a bit of a disappointment for me.

For instance, the first track, "Arrival", has lost all of the magic and impact of the original, which was an epic other-worldly track with the flute intro and solid driving percussion. The Ashley Wallbridge remix feels inorganic and tired, and fails to inspire the, "whoa" effect of Emery's original.

Track 3, "Stars", which was originally a really cool way to start off the orignal album, has been all but ruined for me.

However, Baltek's remix of "Full Tilt" is pretty good, keeping the same feel of the original with a little extra "BUMP".
And I do like John O'Callaghan's upbeat, thumping remix of "Too Dark Tonight", one of my favs from the original, but it's definitely nice to have a the contrast with the haunting, yet beautiful original.
And of course, Lange hits a homerun with his remix of "Into The Light" - definitely worth checking out (also available on Lange and Genix's Passion-the Album).

Overall, though, "Re-Lit" had me wanting the purity and familiarity of the original album, whose bright light never went out to begin with...

Gareth Emery does a nice job of re-working his Northern Lights disk, and it is a superior product. I would recommend it over the original.
