5.0 out of 5 stars Can Listen over and over to this Beautiful CD..., September 22, 1999
This review is from: Northern Seascape (Audio CD)
Heard about Jim's CD through some Dan Fogelberg Pals. So I purchased it, not knowing too much about the artist. The moment I put it on my CD player, it brought these words out in my mind... "Romantic", "Magical", "Beautiful". Jim Is Very Talented and his music seems to bring out warmness, and a sense that the songs were written straight from his heart. Good Luck Jim.. What a beautiful piece of work.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Enchanting!!!, January 15, 1999

When I read that Dan Fogelberg co-wrote the title track and lent his support, along with David Crosby, Carole King and Dave Koz; I WANTED this cd for my collection. These recommendations encouraged me to buy it; but after listening, it was Jim Wilson's talent that won me over.

Jim Wilson is a gifted pianist/recording artist. This entire album is magical, beautifully arranged and very soothing.

For all those who love the outdoors, from the song of the sea, the sound of snowfall, the different hues of the sky and loving tributes to family and friends; pick up this cd. You won't be disappointed.

Simply beautiful and relaxing.

Northern Seascape (BUY IT!)

As a pianist myself, I'm always on the lookout for new recordings, and can be very critical when listening to a new artist. This CD came around as a pleasant, and very welcome, surprise. Jim Wilson writes real melodies, and plays them with sensitivity, heart, and a sense of real musicianship. This is currently one of my most played albums. I'm looking forward to the follow-up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soul searching, inspiring, TRUE music, January 24, 1999

If you have ever listened to Wyndham Hill or Narada new age music, you will love Jim Wilson's "Northern Seascapes". This music really strikes a chord in your heart and makes you realise what music is all about. Jim plays the piano with his heart, and you can truly feel it. It is the kind of music that can draw people closer together. This one is worth a try and you can not afford to pass it up. Keep on playing Jim!

This is a Jim Wilson classic. Along the lines of Jim Brickman and John Tesh but MUCH more musical and artistic. Get his latest also....CAPE OF GOOD HOPE.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than meets the ear, September 7, 2005

There's far more to Jim Wilson's music than is apparent on first listening. Sure, it's soothing and moody...but Wilson isn't content with just spinning ear candy. Working within the constraints of the style--no lyrics, minimal improvisation--he crafts miniature masterpieces of chamber music from streams of satisfying melodic motifs and variations. I've listened to both Northern Exposure and Cape of Good Hope over and over, and they have yet to grow tiresome. The best tracks on this disk by far are in the middle: Heart of Innocence through Illuminaria. You can only do so much with Walk Away Renee, though...

Ah, yes, and the guy's got great piano chops too.

Northern Seascape is a fantastic Piano Voyage that everyone should take. And, if you enjoy this CD, Cape of Good Hope is even better. I would give Northern Seascape 5 stars and Cape of Good Hope 6 stars. The presence of so many great artists on both of these CD's shows the respect Jim has acquired and the talent level he has achieved. The title track written with Dan Fogelberg is fantastic and the remake of Walk away Renee is wonderful. Enjoy!

As a huge fan of piano music, I picked up this CD for that attribute alone. What an amazing talent! Jim shares his soul in every track. This is one of the best recordings in my collection and one I suggest to friends often.

5.0 out of 5 stars Music for working, dreaming, relaxing, loving, getting away, July 26, 2000

I have many CD's, of many genres, but this is one of the few I can listen to over and over. It immediately resets my mood with the very first title track. I first heard it in a lovely, old restored mansion in Duluth, now a B&B. It set such a wonderful mood for exploring the richness of the past, it became a must have - I only wish Jim Wilson had more CDs. There is great variety and yet not a single track that destroys the mood laid down by the first track. Exquisite!
