I wasn't very happy with this map. In several respects, for example south along the Puuc Highway and back north on the Route of the Monasteries, both south of Merida, the map differed significantly from the actual location of intersecting roads. The differences were sufficient to create confusion and difficulty for us; for example, sometimes the map would have us turn left to connect when we needed to turn right. I basically stopped using the map in this region, but used it again without difficulty to travel from Merida to Playa del Carmen -- but near Valladolid, when we used secondary roads for a while to reach the hacienda we were staying at, the map was again inexact.

If you're looking for a road map, this isn't it. It shows the general layout of towns, roads, and Mayan sites, but does not have the level of precision or accuracy to give you turn-by-turn instructions. I was usually unable to figure out, using this map, exactly where I was or what specific turns and landmarks I was supposed to look for, so I got lost more than a few times.
On the rear side are simple descriptions of important archaeological sites, but they are unlikely to give you more information than you already know.

If you're seeking the perfect map for your trip to Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, look no further. The front side of the map contains detailed roads, plus the locations of all the popular tourist destinations and adventure activities. If you're planning on visiting any of the Maya sites, they are clearly marked on the map and the reverse features guidebook like descriptions and building site maps along with a brief history of Maya civilization. The map is printed on waterproof paper and stands up well to being folded, stuffed in a bag, and used again and again. Highly recommended and a deal at $11.95.

Delivers the quality and graphic detail one has come to expect from this map series. However, the area covered is restricted to the northern Yucatan (covering less than half of the sites related to the Mayan civilization). City maps are not included.

This is a reliable and sturdy map in a good scale for driving. I found it very helpful both for planning a trip and also for actual driving, and have been unable to find one with a smaller scale. Together with the available signage in Mexico, I had no problems to find everything I was looking for. The map could be improved by adding some precision to the location of Mayan ruins (smaller icons would be fine) and by adding more of the less well-known sites. The description of the "top" sites for Mayan ruins seems less useful, as the user would generally have other, more instructive, materials handy, but the site maps come handy. Maps of additional sites instead of the many pictures would improve the map.

I may be behind in the times, but this map is sweeeet! I am used to a big thin paper map, that tears just from folding to many times... This one seems much more sturdy. I'm going to Quintana Roo in two months, and I certainly don't want to use my data plan/gps on my cell phone. This map lists UTM and Lat/Long coordinates for a good portion of Mayan temples, etc. I'll bring my normal hiking gps, and punch in coordinates I find on the map. The map is made of a rubbery vinyl type material, and it is very clear and easy to read. It may not have EVERY detail on it, but, we know that is impossible to do anyway. Highly recommended for Cancun/Tulum/East Coast Yucatan area.

Map is of good quality for multiple foldings and impact of accidental inclement weather. NatGeo mapping quality always excels at balancing text details and image/graphics.

Felt confident driving in the Yucatan with this map as reference. Love the tear resistant paper & the call-outs for mayan sites -- very helpful.

I used this map on a two week driving vacation through the Yucatan. It wasn't a replacement for my GPS but it was extremely helpful in navigating between major points of interest. It was also helpful because it showed the location of ruins, many of which we decided to visit because they were on the map. It may be missing fine detail and is not helpful for navigation in cities but it was met our needs. It is made from very durable paper that withstood the many abuses inflicted upon it, including spilled water and footprints from sandy shoes, during the road trip. I would recommend this map for anyone visiting the area.

Useful to have on our trip of the Yucatan. I wish it extended a little further south. Ended up using the phone for the most part. (Caching Google maps on the phone was pretty useful. Cell phone reception is spotting off the main roads).
