This phone is a very good phone for back-up calling when your wireless phone is dead due to AC power loss and/or you cannot get enough volume out of your current phone(s).

This phone has excellent volume and clarity, unlike my cordless phone and most other cordless I have used. I bought this as a phone I could use if power is lost and the cordless no longer works. Everyone should have a backup phone they can plug into a phone outlet and use directly. After buying this, I find myself using it in all cases where I don't need to walk around with the handset. Its volume on Low setting is much better than my Panasonic AC powered Wireless, and if you are hard of hearing, its High setting is excellent and without distortion.

Now the problems with this phone as a primary phone are issues. The biggest one I find is lack of a back-lighted display, used for its Caller ID function, but if you have a cordless already, all have caller ID. Contrary to some others comments, I found Caller ID works fine and it does not need the AC adapter to work reliably. It uses 4 AA batteries to power its Caller ID feature and consumes very little power. The display also flash "LOW" when the batteries need replacement or recharging. I use rechargeable AA which are cheap and most households have a AA charger. You want to use Per-Charged AA NiMH because they do not self-discharge over time like standard NiMH do. Sanyo's Eneloop is a good choice. But rechargeables are not necessary since this phone uses very little power and batteries are only needed if you want to use the Caller ID display. It works fine to place calls without any power, batteries or AC.

Bottom line, I like this phone mainly for its exceptional volume and voice clarity. If you want to use its Call ID, you will need good room lighting to read its display.

if you're looking for a wall mounted phone that mom and dad used to have, this isn't it. Cheap construction, but what do you expect for ten bucks?

This is a good product; however, the caller ID does not light (LED) when the phone rings like other cordless phones. Unless I turn on the lights, it is hard to see who is calling/number and not having the best eyesight makes it even harder to see.

Phone is fine, although it's skinny and doesn't completely cover wall plates. The directions were a little weird for setting up the phone but I got it to work.

product stopped ringing almost immediately, would not recommend this at all, truly unhappy with the quality of this phone. Lesson learned
