Norton anthologies have the goods. English classes make you buy these, and if you are not an English major, it sucks. But these are awesome! I have kept most of mine, despite no English major, and continue to read them over and over again.

Norton is always an excellent choice in anthology for literature!! The indexes and bibliographies are wonderful resources! Many college literature classes use the Norton as their text of choice.

There's a ton of great reading contained within. I needed this set for one my Literature classes -- what a great required text. There are complete stories, background information on the authors, and it's all laid out very nicely and broken up by period. I highly recommend this set.

This is really a great deal. If you're studying American Literature, or just interested in reading some great writer's work get this!! It's so worth the money; the content is great as well. :D

I must say that I'm not really a great fan of the American Literature presented in this anthology, but it is still a nice addition to any library or book enthusiast. I think that other Norton Anthologies that I have owned have done a far better job of adding additional information in the margens or in the preface. Also, as always with Anthologies, I really think they should start focusing hard on making them available electronically as well.

I had to have these books for my college lit class but they are excellent collections of some great works! I think I will buy the other anthologies just to have, to expand my literary knowledge. Really like them!
