CRASH TIME and NO REMOTE ACCESS,
This review is from: Norton Utilities Premier 14.5 1-User/3PC [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
If you are using Windows 7, this product WILL make your computer crash and require a FULL system recovery if you use the "Defrag Your Registry" feature.
I build, repair and maintain computers for quite a few clients. I have always recommended Norton Utilities. I know the product inside out. Trust me, you will REGRET using this product with Windows 7. Your computer WILL crash. Furthermore, Norton customer support is in TOTAL denial about this issue. Do NOT use it. Your computer WILL crash. ANOTHER problem is: Even though there is no firewall in this product, the moment you install it, you will no longer be able to use the "Remote Assistance" feature in the maintainance folder of your Windows 7 Comp,. You will also not be able to use remote assistance that comes with Windows Live Messenger. Norton denies it, but I have done countless tests with countless users. When it is uninstalled, I can use remote assistance. When I reinstall it, you can NOT. What a pathetic product. Norton should be ashamed of themselves to send this product to market.

Norton Utilities on vista and xp,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
So far I have installed Norton Utilities Premiere 2010 3PC on my Gateway Vista laptop and on a Thinkpad 43 XP laptop. Things went well on the Vista laptop
When I installed on the XP laptop, the first thing I noticed was that my Norton Internet Security 2010, which I installed in November, was no longer running - and I could not MAKE it run. Also a mysterious "installer error" popped up which I could not make go away (claimed something was on an unnamed CD that it needed). I then got into "chat" with Symantec support and got a very nice tech, who, over a 2.5 hour period, most of which where he was running my pc remotely, managed to get NIS running again and made the popup go away. He did have to dis-install both NIS and NU and reinstall them with downloads. However, my wife is continuing to find functions that are no longer workable, e.g., her Adobe Acrobat can no longer print. Basically, at least on the xp laptop, NU seems to have done much more damage than good. The product also includes 25GB of Norton Online Backup (NOBU) and I have been trying to use that on my Vista laptop. Performance in uploading is abysmally slow (I have cable), and just stops/fails before it manages to upload much of anything. Over the past week, on many re-starts, I've probably gotten about 6GB uploaded. I noted that, this morning, it had stopped again - for NOBU maintenance (hopefully to make it more responsive). I would also advise NOT enabling the "disk cleaner" as that takes over your computer for hours to the point you can't even use your computer. Anyway... I somewhat generously gave this product two stars. 5/19/2010 update. NOBU has been running very well on my Vista laptop since Norton's maintenance outage. I am fearful of running it on my wife's XP laptop, given all the troubles she's had with NU.

When I built my new Windows 7 computer a few months ago I thought, I needed to get Norton Utilities. Hell, I've used their products for over 10years and it seemed like a wise move. Overall, the product works well, but many of its features it uses comes with windows 7. So in retrospect....I could have passed on this software and saved some money. So if you're a Windows 7 user...I would pass on purchasing it
