This review is from: Norway To America: A History of the Migration (Paperback)
I read this very quickly, yet thoroughly. The book tied together many bits of information I'd uncovered over years of doing genealogical research. I appreciated specific accounts of life aboard ship, travel routes and early settlements. Good descriptions of interrelationships among immigrants made a lasting impression. It also gave me new directions to pursue in my research. This is worth reading even if one doesn't have Norwegian ancestors because many of their hardships apply to all newcomers to America.
