If you are continuing to torture yourself and child with an old fashioned bulb suction stop now and buy this device. This helps your new born breathe and sleep better in less time than it takes to clean one nostril with a squeeze bulb. This is my first review with my first child and I recommend this and wish I had seen it sooner. It would have been more rest for the baby and more peace of mind for us parents.

Like most other parents who use this thing, I was a little taken aback at the idea. Really? Sucking the snot out? After childbirth, it seemed I'd paid my dues on the ick factor. Thankfully I was humble enough to believe others knew something I didn't.
I'd tried using the utterly useless bulb syringe on my infant's tiny, tiny nose, but--just as with my first baby--I was astonished we've continued to pass these out to parents for so many years. Even the smaller ones designed to be more user-friendly were still totally ineffective. And every parent knows the misery of comforting a tiny baby who simply can't breathe while she tries to nurse. It's pitiful. Enter the Nosefrida. The tip is designed in such a way that it would be impossible to push it too far into the baby's nostril even if she jerks suddenly and forcefully, and it completely covers the nostril opening, allowing for a great suction. And here's my reassurance to those of you still a bit squeamish: if you hooked this thing up to a Dyson vacuum cleaner, you still wouldn't be able to get baby snot up near the filter, let alone into the tube leading to the mouthpiece. Instead of the usual squirming and fighting, my baby actually seemed bemused by the whole thing. And here's the best part--it works EXPONENTIALLY better than any other product I've ever tried on either of my children. Here are some tips that I've figured out after trial & error: 1) If possible, have the baby's head upright. Gravity is your friend. 2) If the mucous is thick, place a few drops of sterile saline into the nose for a minute. It helps loosen things up, although your baby will not be amused. 3) If your baby is still enough to allow you to do this, angle the tip just slightly toward the ear, rather than straight up the nose. Took me awhile to figure out that since the sinuses are slightly off to the side, this would get much better results. 4) Use several shorter inhalations to clear the nose rather than one major attempt. That seems to work more effectively and upset the babies a bit less. I've already bought several of these for friends, and every one of them, after asking if I was joking, has come to declare this one of the best baby products they've ever used. Undoubtedly, the Nosefrida would be one of my top 10 baby supplies on the Stranded on a Desert Island List.

Works but my baby is not a fan,

I have to say that this works 100x better than a bulb sucker. It would be prefect if my kid didn't hate it so much, but I don't know that anyone has a product that will fix that. I have found that short, quick, successive sucks work better for us most of the time and seem to bother him less. The Nosefrida only does about 85% of the job though. After I have the booger to the edge of his nostril I usually have to use a tissue to finish the job.
Bottom line, nose cleaning can be unpleasant, but at least I actually getting his nose clean with this rather than just torturing him with a bulb sucker.

The Nosefrida works as advertised and is great! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the mouth piece has an awful taste that hasn't diminished over 2 weeks.

This product works great. The only design flaw is that the hard plastic tube does not stay connected to the tubing adapter.

This is most disgusting awesome product I have ever seen! I really thought, "How can this thing work so well?" before I bought it, but it really does what it says. I will never use those stupid bulbs again!!!!1

After learning about this product on an online forum, I decided to order it for my 2 month old who was having a time with a stuffy nose. I got the Nose Frida pretty quickly. I have to say, the premise is gross, but EFFECTIVE. I still have my aspirator bulb from the hospital, but it doesn't do squat compared to Nose Frida. And so easy to clean! Lets face it: No babies like their noses sucked, but I can tell my little guy was so relieved to be able to breathe again after getting his nose cleared. As my review title says, "I <3 THE SWEDES!" Not only do they make great cars, killer movies and now an amazing snot sucker!! Definitely recommend to parents. I wouldn't hesitate giving this as a baby shower gift. I know I'll get "the look", but that's okay, the recipient will understand later. :)

If you were able to successfully use one of those bulb type aspirators, then you're a rockstar! However, after learning my lesson with my older child, now 3-years-old, I was on the prowl for a better "snot sucker" for my new baby. This aspirator was exactly what I needed. The tube on the end creates a seal on the rim of the baby's nose and then the suction is created by "mommy (or daddy) power" so it's perfect for the smallest dribbles to the gunkiest mucus. The filter ensures that the snot stays in it's tubing. I can see how purchasing filters, overtime, may become expensive, but it is a necessary evil for a product that really works! You won't be disappointed. Purchasing another for grandma's house (why should I have all the fun?).

Better than bulb,

Once you get over the fact that you are physically sucking the mucous out of your child's nose, it is much better. My child still twists and squirms to get away from the sucker, but it gets more out with more control than a bulb aspirator. It works well with one person holding the head and another one on the sucker.

I was hesitant at first to try this product but a co-worker RAVED about it. When I finally rec'd it and used it, this product is AMAZING !!!! It doesn't go into my baby's nose like the usual nose sucker. But it gets so much junk out of her nose it's a shock she can even breath. I LOVE IT and HIGHLY recommend it.
