Book Description

February 2000
This is the first book dictated by André Luiz, a discarnate soul, to Francisco C. Xavier, one of the most productive mediums and inspirational writers of our time. In this partnership, Andre Luiz acts as a reporter on conditions in the spirit world, revealing details of its life, people, places, and organization. He does so through the lens of his reflections on his own after-death experience, and his struggles to make sense of his new reality. In this very personal account, Andre Luiz reveals his identity as a medical doctor who practiced in southeastern Brazil in the first decades of the twentieth century, and who left the physical body a few years prior to the beginning of World War II. A true skeptic at the time of his demise, he is initially shocked at the discovery that death is nothing more than a doorway to a new and richer life. As time progresses, however, he undergoes inevitable experiences and teachings in the spirit realm which lead him to a better understanding of life's meaning.

Review

"This is a remarkable and unique book!...Nosso Lar gives us Hope." -- Sukie Miller Ph..D., author of After Death: Mapping The Journey and Finding Hope When a Child Dies

About the Author

Francisco Cândido Xavier, the famous Brazilian medium known affectionately in Brazil and throughout Latin America as Chico Xavier, was born in the city of Pedro Leopoldo, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, on April 2, 1910. His formal education is basic: he completed only elementary school. Thereafter, at the age of fourteen, he started working full time to help support his family. He retired in 1958 after working for thirty years as a clerk typist for the local government.

Through his amazing paranormality, spiritual authors have dictated works covering a vast range of subjects: from poetry to historical romances to scientific tomes. His first book, published in 1932, was a collection of poems by deceased great masters; it created a true revolution in the literary circles of Brazil and Portugal. However, his greatest contribution, a new vision of Christianity, came through the series of books authored by Emmanuel, who produced historical romances, and André Luiz, who wrote of the life after life. In addition to his work as a medium, Chico has dedicated his life to Jesus, and through his immense charitable work has become known and respected throughout the world among all the religious schools. He was recommended for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989.

Chico has channeled more than 400 books since 1927, and is the most published author in Brazil today. He has ceded the copyright to his books to charitable organizations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth your time!, October 22, 2006
This review is from: 'Nosso Lar' - A Spiritual Home (Paperback)
I could hardly put this book down after beginning it. In ways, it was different than others I have read on the subject of what is on the other side of life, but I believe it only gives a broader, clearer view. Excellent book for anyone interested in mediumship, or in simply understanding where we go when we leave this life. But one must remember that this is one soul's experience according to how he lived his earthly life, not something that will be everyone's experience. The more you seek to fulfill your individual purpose for being here, and further your own soul growth the more you grow spiritually, surely avoiding the lower spheres alltogether. I cant wait to read the other books by this author, who I feel is extremely gifted and living with one foot in each of two worlds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life does not end!, November 3, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: 'Nosso Lar' - A Spiritual Home (Paperback)
This book depicts how our actions on Earth bear their corresponding consequences in our after-death existence. It explains how carefully we must handle our relationships and acts towards ourselves and towards each other in order not to be overcome by unhappiness, for unhappiness is a direct result which comes from not observing God's everlasting laws of love.
This marvelous story unravels much of what goes on beyond the boundaries of grave. As one of the best-selling books Francisco Cândido Xavier has been given the chance of offering us, it stands as a corroborative evidence for much of what Kardec had searched and found out some decades ago. It should be read by everyone interested in the true, endless guidelines of human journey through time and space.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nosso Lar, February 15, 2004

This review is from: 'Nosso Lar' - A Spiritual Home (Paperback)
I actually bought an (English translation) of this book while traveling in Brazil. It is one of the best books on the subject I have read in a long long time. It clearly describes an incredible and believable place/space a not-very-awake soul goes through after death. Told as a story, rather than a channeling, I felt the concepts and ideas introduced were very accurate. Even though some of the ideas are now considered a little old-fashioned, most of what is said is absolutely true, as I have seen and experienced it as a spiritual (psychic) counselor. I put five stars on this book since I couldn't put it down for a brief rest while reading it!
