5.0 out of 5 stars Worth your time!, October 22, 2006
This review is from: 'Nosso Lar' - A Spiritual Home (Paperback)
I could hardly put this book down after beginning it. In ways, it was different than others I have read on the subject of what is on the other side of life, but I believe it only gives a broader, clearer view. Excellent book for anyone interested in mediumship, or in simply understanding where we go when we leave this life. But one must remember that this is one soul's experience according to how he lived his earthly life, not something that will be everyone's experience. The more you seek to fulfill your individual purpose for being here, and further your own soul growth the more you grow spiritually, surely avoiding the lower spheres alltogether. I cant wait to read the other books by this author, who I feel is extremely gifted and living with one foot in each of two worlds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life does not end!, November 3, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: 'Nosso Lar' - A Spiritual Home (Paperback)
This book depicts how our actions on Earth bear their corresponding consequences in our after-death existence. It explains how carefully we must handle our relationships and acts towards ourselves and towards each other in order not to be overcome by unhappiness, for unhappiness is a direct result which comes from not observing God's everlasting laws of love.
This marvelous story unravels much of what goes on beyond the boundaries of grave. As one of the best-selling books Francisco Cândido Xavier has been given the chance of offering us, it stands as a corroborative evidence for much of what Kardec had searched and found out some decades ago. It should be read by everyone interested in the true, endless guidelines of human journey through time and space.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nosso Lar, February 15, 2004

This review is from: 'Nosso Lar' - A Spiritual Home (Paperback)
I actually bought an (English translation) of this book while traveling in Brazil. It is one of the best books on the subject I have read in a long long time. It clearly describes an incredible and believable place/space a not-very-awake soul goes through after death. Told as a story, rather than a channeling, I felt the concepts and ideas introduced were very accurate. Even though some of the ideas are now considered a little old-fashioned, most of what is said is absolutely true, as I have seen and experienced it as a spiritual (psychic) counselor. I put five stars on this book since I couldn't put it down for a brief rest while reading it!

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding description of life after death, December 31, 2001

A classic Spiritism book!

This novel, about the experiences of Andre Luiz in the spiritual world, is a very good spiritism book. Its the first of a sixteen books series, and also the most famous Andre Luiz work.
It covers the begins of his journey into life after death, his suffering in nether regions, his evolution and first impressions after the transition.
Like all Francisco Xavier books, thats for sure a very good reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Revelation, May 1, 2001
This review is from: 'Nosso Lar' - A Spiritual Home (Paperback)
Love, hatred, light and shadows. The realitiy of life after death, enlightened by a Gospel approach and brought to us through the astonishingly sharp mediunship of Francisco C. Xavier, makes it a must read. Andy, the doctor that acts as a reporter, is one like me and you unveiling the spiritual realms as the mere continuation of life and 'matter'at a different degree - what takes us to the unavoidable thought of the consequences of our present attitude towards our lives beyond grave. This work is full of love, reflections, life, confort, and it certainly goes farther than Owen's an Dante Alighieri's.

I read this book in Portuguese, 20 years ago. While rereading it, I realized its message and lessons are timeless. Excellent book! André Luiz exemplifies the importance of living not only for oneself, and the incredible power of love. Even for the ones who do not believe in reincarnation, the message of this book is certainly understandable and easy to assimilate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grateful for this movie!!!!!, April 24, 2011
This review is from: 'Nosso Lar' - A Spiritual Home (Paperback)
I watched this movie with a group last week in the town of Abadiania, Brazil, where John of God (Joao De Deus) has a spiritual center, The Casa De Dom Ignacio. John of God is a medium who channels beings of light and love who have healed hundreds of thousands - maybe millions - of people around the world. People who had experiences with John of God at the Casa were recently featured on an episode of Oprah. My group, too, had been experiencing miracles at the center, both physical and spiritual. Chico Xavier, the author/medium of the book, Nosso Lar, on which the movie is based, was much beloved by John of God, who carried the body of the former to his grave upon his death. The movie was a beautiful wake-up call for many of us who watched it, adding to the intensity of love that we were experiencing at The Casa. For my part, I knew it was important to do no harm, as the Buddhists say, but there is more. The movie tells us that we need to do more with this precious life we have been granted. It teaches that selfishness is the root of all evil. Not money - that's just a tool. All selfishness leads to suffering and we need to take advantage of this life we have to grow more compassionate, more loving, and closer to God and our brothers and sisters. I highly recommend this movie, as well as the book. Vá com Deus!!!!!!!

A very interesting book. . .I'd like to read more by Francisco Xavier. Makes life appear as a valuable opportunity to grow and expand awareness and to be of service in the world. This book is really for those who are searching for more meaning in life and for understanding the process of reincarnation.
