5.0 out of 5 stars We Love It
We love this item. It has made everyday a little brighter. I use regular 6 bags chocolate chips from the store with about 1 1/4 cup of veg oil and it works great and quite! Don't forget to use the leveling screw at the bottom so the flow is just right!

1.0 out of 5 stars Pretty, but poor quality!
I purchased 2 of these for home use. 1 stopped working midway through (about 1 1/2 hours) on it's first use during my halloween party. The 2nd took a dump the following night. I used belgian chocolate with a high cocoa butter content as they say this is optimal and caramel in the other. The heater doesn't keep the chocolate warm enough to keep it flowing properly. I...

I wouldn't buy one of these again. I have just purchased a Sephra fountain. More money? Yes, about $200 EA, but they are a better grade. I guess you get what you pay for.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, September 24, 2005
This review is from: Nostalgia CFF-900 Stainless-Steel Chocolate Fondue Fountain (Kitchen)
The chocolate fountain came yesterday, and I am sending it back today. It looks terrific. The stainless steel finish is nice, seems very sturdy, not cheap-looking, etc. Everything was fine until I turned it on! The noise was ridiculous--a high-pitched "heee-aaah-heee-aaah" that just pulsates as the auger turns. I thought I might not have it leveled, so I fiddled with that, but no difference. I took off the auger and tower, and with just the motor turning all I got was this loud noise. So sadly, I am returning this one and have now ordered a more expensive version that promises a "whisper-quiet" motor!

1.0 out of 5 stars Chocolate Nightmare, December 25, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nostalgia CFF-900 Stainless-Steel Chocolate Fondue Fountain (Kitchen)
I bought this last week and have used it twice so far. The machine is very noisy. It's pretty annoying when you're trying to hold a coversation with people. It doesn't keep the chocolate warm enough. It's pretty small that it was hard to pour in the chocolate. You get more chocolate on the table than into the machine. It does not have a nice "fountain flow" to it. I had it on my kitchen table and the chocolate didn't flow right. It was coming down mainly on one side. I thought my table was crooked. Which it wasn't. I thought I didn't have enough chocolate in it. That wasn't the case either. I tried to adjust the "legs" on the bottom of the fountain. That didn't do anything. Clean up is just a nightmare. You need a small bottle brush (or something similar) to clean it. I used Q-Tips to clean the extra small places. You need to use a lot of dishwashing liquid because it's so oily. It needs to be washed more than once to get all the oil and chocolate off. The only good thing is that there are only 2 pieces to the machine. And that it's all stainless steel. I suggest people don't buy this and pay a little more for a better machine. I plan to return this machine and buy a better one.

I didn't expect great things from this machine, considering the price. But I did expect at least the very minimum. I bought 2 because I knew I was hostessing 3 baby showers this year & thought it would be really nice to have 1 machine flowing milk chocolate & a 2nd flowing white, with a nice tiered arrangment filled with fresh strawberrys & assorted fruit. Maybe a tier of nice cookies...WOW I was so dissapointed the 1st time I used them, what a nightmare! They don't flow smoothly at all,one of them malfunctions badly & the 2nd is not much better! I even tried them at the 2nd baby shower thinking maybe I was being unfair or had done something wrong??? Nope exact same horror! Clean-up is not a good or easy thing either! I have packed them up & they are going back! For that 3rd shower I will dip my own strawberries & make a pretty arrangment, stress & clean-up on that will be much much less! I am so frustrated over the machines I hate that I even have to give them 1 star.

Exactly as I expected it to be. Works great, looks great and is fun to use when entertaining. Clean-up, however, is a royal pain!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not too noisy, March 16, 2006
This review is from: Nostalgia CFF-900 Stainless-Steel Chocolate Fondue Fountain (Kitchen)
Before I recieved this item, I was concerned about the noise based on the reviews. But after using it, I was surprised that the sound coming from the machine was very tolerable, especially for a party type of setting of 6 or more guests. Although I could imagine that the sound could ruin the romatic mood for a couple. I feel that I got a good deal for the money I spent ($50). -pmh, Crofton, MD

Bought two for my sister's reception. I fought with these things all night! I used the belgian chocolate, added oil - to no avail. After cleaning them, I put water in to test. It could not even pull water through!

We had a lot of fun with this fountain at a couple of parties. It's a little noisy, but you won't notice it if it is a larger party. Everyone loved it and asked where I got it. I bought it at Bed Bath & Beyond for about $40 using one of their 20% off coupons that come in the mail almost every week.

I used semi-sweet chocolate chips (tried Nestle & Ghiradelli) and generic canola oil. I let the fountain run for about 5 hours without a problem. I noticed I had to add a little extra oil when I first started to get it to flow smoothly. You also have to make sure it is completely level.

You have to make sure the chocolate is smooth before you put it in otherwise it won't work. I overcooked some white chocolate chips when trying to melt them. They wouldn't work. If there are a couple of clumps still in your chocolate after taking it out of the microwave, just continue to stir until completely melted rather than keep putting it back in the microwave. That's how I overcooked the white chocolate.

We used wooden skewer sticks for many of the items. We tried marshmallows, Oreos, Nutter Butters, dried apples chips, pretzels, fresh pineapple, kiwi, strawberries, peaches, marshiano cherries, piroette cookies, and regular Pringles. At home we tried something fun - banana slices, strawberries & cherries dipped in the fountain & then used the canned whipped cream - Banana Split. Lots of fun! You can really get creative.

We had a great time with this fountain at a holiday party we had. The only problem is the noise the motor makes. If you have a large party with lots of noise in the room it is not a problem. If your entertaining a smaller group of people though the noise is very evident and you will only want to run it for a short time. Does work as advertised.
