4.0 out of 5 stars Hot Dog Roller - Great
We love the hot dog roller, we had been searching since Nov 05 for this after we saw it in an ad for a local store. But no one had it. We had looked online, at several different web sites but did not want to pay the shipping. Finally came across this one with no shipping or tax. JUMPED AT IT!!! We love it. The buns do not really get steamed at the top like we hoped...

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy It For What It Is
For the price, this is a neat little weanie roaster. I expected the rods to roll the weiners forward and back along a hot plate, whereas they actually rotate so that the weiners constantly turn above a heating element. If the heat is left on its hottest setting, the weiners char and swell on the ends, sort of like roasting weanies over a campfire. Turning the heat down...

Turning the heat down halfway works much better, contrary to the instructions. As for the bun warmer above the weiners, it sits too far from the heat element to catch any of the warmth when the weiners are blocking the heat from reaching the buns. Think of the upper deck as a bun HOLDER rather than a warmer. This will roast eight weiners and hold eight buns (split-side down). If you want a professional version of this gadget, you'll pay from $200 to much, much more.

The buns do not really get steamed at the top like we hoped they would. But we still love the hot dogs. Clean up is easy. And by the way it is now out again in the stores. A little cheaper but we did not know it would be out again. We never saw it out last summer.

We got this for our 5 year old who wants to open a stand this summer for the kids in our neighborhood. He absolutely loved it. He was excited because...Now he can make supper! The bun warmer doesn't really heat up the buns but makes them warm enough. I would recommend this item to anyone who has kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Lil Doggie!, January 10, 2007
This review is from: Nostalgia HDR-535 Hot Dog Roller and Bun Warmer (Kitchen)
This hot dog roaster does a great job of cooking the dogs just as you like them; from barely warm to hot and crispy. If you like your hot dogs cooked "hard" this is the cooker for you. It performs just like those roasters you see in the deli or sports events or 7-Eleven with the hot rollers that keep the dogs turning at all times. It takes about 15-20 minutes on the high setting to cook the dogs hard with crispy brown skins, but that's better than starting a charcoal grill every time you get a taste for a roasted versus steamed or boiled dog (eeww!) The bun warmer does not really work that well. It relies on the heat generated from the rollers, but it does not heat the buns without drying them out. Better off heating them in the oven or not at all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool, but a bit toyish..., April 17, 2006

Hot dogs & sausages used to be a job for my George Foreman Grill, but this Hot Dog Roller was too cool to pass up. I don't know why but even after it arrived, I didn't expect it to work. The fact is, it does though...Despite its toyish appearance, it really works.

I use it in my home theater room, next to my Nostalgia Electronics Popcorn Popper.

its a really fun item , it does heat the hot dogs well , if you get the thicker ones u may need to watch them more closely to make sure they turn properly . they get very hot and fully heated in about 1/2 hr it seems if theyre the thick ones. i love the hot dog shack its fun and kids love it!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Its A lot smaller than it looks, March 9, 2007
This review is from: Nostalgia HDR-535 Hot Dog Roller and Bun Warmer (Kitchen)
This item really only cooks about four good size dogs at a time , it does a nice job cooking them and make sure to leave the buns in the bag if you put them in the bun warmer or they will just dry out and watch your temp close because this thing will overcook the dogs real fast.

This Hot Dog maker is cool. Makes good hot dogs.
I have only used it a few times but the kids really like it.
The bun warmer does not work that that great. But all in all we really do
like it and can't wait to use it this summer for parties.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as expected........., February 27, 2007
This review is from: Nostalgia HDR-535 Hot Dog Roller and Bun Warmer (Kitchen)
This hot dog warmer is ok if you only want the dogs warmed. As far as the bun warmer goes..... Use your microwave for better results! It dries the rolls out and it also causes the bread to be hard by the time the dogs are ready....... Make sure you PREHEAT it! Otherwise it could take awhile for the dogs to get done. The taste of the dog is pretty good when it is ready. It also only holds 8 regular size hotdogs. If you prefer the longer hotdogs, expect to cook only one on each set of rollers! That is only 4 hotdogs at a time.
