My teenager saw this toaster in a catalog and thought it sounded like an easy way to make tasty hot dogs, but he is sorely disappointed in its performance. The instructions state that the hot dogs should be room temperature when inserted into the toaster. Who keeps their meat at room temperature? If the hot dogs are cold when put in the toaster, the outside gets warm but the inside remains cold. Thus, they need to be toasted several times to get them warm all the way through, or else they need to be warmed up in the microwave first-what a pain! Setting the heat for the highest temperature does a better job of heating the hot dog, but also a better job of burning the edges of the bun. He has had problems with the regular size hot dogs expanding and being difficult to remove. Also, during one of the repeated toasting episodes, he pushed the stop button and it fell back into the machine, so now he must use a chopstick to activate the stop mechanism. I found this toaster online for $12.95, but wish I had bought a toaster oven instead-it would have done the same job and been much more versatile.

I took a chance buying this product. My husband LOVES hot dogs, so I figured he would get a kick out of this. The toasted hot dogs and buns are DELICIOUS. I highly recommend this product. When we tried it out, I told him I only wanted 1. After tasting it, we both had a second one.
Note- you can only use regular sized hot dogs and buns. You can't use the "bun sized" hot dogs or the longer buns, or any other type of sausages/brats. The hole is only big enough for a "regular" hot dog.

Bought this as a Father's Day gift for my husband, and the whole family loved it! The only drawback was that the lower settings do not get hot dogs as well done as I like them.

It's too bad that they don't a larger hole or two on it for bratwurst and other sausages in addition to the hot dog holes. Maybe that will be on the version 2.0 of this machine someday. Computers are constantly upgraded, why not this gadget?

I bought this for my husband as a gift from Santa - he loves hot dogs so I thought this would be great! I, myself, like toasted buns so I thought it would be great as well. I also bought him 5 packages of Ball Park Franks...they don't fit after toasting because they plump when they cook. The toasted buns aren't evenly toasted either. We purchased Oscar Meyer hot dogs and that seemed to do the trick! I give it a rating of 3 out of 5 stars.

It's fantastic. I like my dogs slightly burnt. They came out perfect. You do have to watch the buns. Wait a few seconds before you put them in so they won't get burned. You can always warm the buns after cooking the hot dogs.

I bought this for my boyfriend because he loves hotdogs and never does dishes... figured i would kill two birds with one stone. Sure its not like hot dogs off the grill or like boiling them but it does a fine job of heating it up evenly and warming up the buns and the best part is there is no clean up afterwords (now if only i could get him to put this back in to the pantry). p.s. if you dont put two sets of hot dogs in at the same time sometimes when the dog is done it shoots up so fast the hot dog will jump right out of the toaster, I'm not kidding.

I got this item as a gift for my brother and his family because they eat hot dogs as if they were going out of style. They all love it, especially his kids. They can't get enough of it. They enjoy sitting there waiting for the dogs to pop up. They think its the best thing every. The toaster cooks the hot dogs evenly and they are juicier than cooking in the microwave.

This brand name seems to have big flaws. This is the 2nd product from nostalgia that we have ordered and been very unhappy with. The first hot dog toaster we got did not have the basket for the hot dogs with it so we exchanged it for another and it barely gets warm. You have to keep putting it down in order for it to get warm. The other product we ordered from this company was a cotton candy machine. The first one worked 1 time and then quit, so we again exchanged it for another and the current one barely spins fast enough to make cotton candy. Very poorly made and a waste of your money!!!

Have totally enjoyed this product.My entire family has used it and I have bought 2 others for gifts and they loved it also.Much better than microwaving or boiling!

i love my hot dog buns lightly toasted and this product does it. the instructions say to use room temperature dogs, but who leaves their dogs out? i just put it on the highest setting and toast the dog twice. it does the trick. very easy to use.
