Solid 4 star half-album from JFK, October 22, 2006
This review is from: Nostalgia (Audio CD)
July For Kings originally started out by the band name of Swim, then changed their name and remade their first album with some new tracks and released their first album, also called Swim. Swim was definitely a 4 or 5 star album, but the band has laid relatively low since then.
Nostalgia followed a couple years later, and is a great addition to the JFK library, although only 7 songs appear on the record. A few of the songs ("The Distance", "Just Right", and "Float Away") are a little slower, indicative of past tracks like "Meteor Flower" and "Washed Away" (both 2 of their best tracks). "One By One' and "Blue Eyes" are a couple of the more upbeat tracks, similar to "Anything But Beautiful" and "Normal Life" and definitely provide a nice change of tempo throughout the album. At the cheap price of purchase available here, coupled with the fact that the album is ridiculously hard to find, Nostalgia is a must-have for any JFK fan, especially fans of the first album. Hopefully we will hear more from this underrated band in the near future.
UPDATE: Check out JFK's 2009 release, "Monochrome" - really excellent, long overdue full-length from this under-the-radar talented band.

Awesome album!, March 25, 2008

This is a great, great album. I ripped this CD onto my iPod and it has the highest playcount by far! I never tire of listening to it. A great follow-up to Swim. My only complaint is that its way too short. With just 7 tracks, the cd is over before you know it. It's still worth every penny though. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat if I had to.
