Amazing Read!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Nostos (Hardcover)
Pelizzon's first book is a marvel; it's hard to believe this isn't the work of a much older, middle career poet. She manages to explore childhood and early family memories without ever drifting into that odious confessional realm--one which mars so many other first forays. Moreover, as the preface poem "The Mind Descending from Above" predicts, the earlier family poems evolve into larger (both in spirit and geography) meditaions but without ever sacrificing the exquisite details of 'this' world. Pelizzon's language is ripping!

Winner of the 1999 Hollis Summers Poetry Prize and 2001 Norma Farber First Book Award, Pelizzon's first collection is one of the stronger first collections i've seen. if she can keep up this quality of work she'll seen be a force in the poetry community.

Picaresque,
By Elaine Almquist "Elaine" (Medford, MA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nostos (Paperback)
This book happens to be written by a friend of my family. Although I haven't had the opportunity to see Penelope since I was very small, she still touches me through her words. My favorite poem is little Picaresque, and it made me want to move to Europe. Haven't done it yet...but it made me want to. The poetry is just pure and full of life. Beautiful.
