About the Author

Ivano Franco Comelli, the son of Italian immigrants, was born and raised on the coastal ranches located in Santa Cruz County a few miles south of San Francisco. He at tend the local schools in Santa Cruz and in 1955 he enrolled at the Police School at San Jose State College. In 1959 he was graduated from that College with and AB in Police and subsequently joined the San Jose City Police Force. He retired from the Police Department in 1989 with the rank of Captain. Since his retirement, he has been active in the preservation and promulgation of Davenport and Coast Road History. "La Nostra Costa" is his first book. He currently lives with his wife Mildred in Monterey County, California.

Even if a person is not familiar with our coastal town of Davenport, just reading this book will make you feel you've been there. Wonderful childhood memories brought to life -- a simpler time that I'm afraid cannot be captured again in these days of IPods, etc. Mr. Comelli definitely makes us of Italian descent proud.
