Book Description

September 1997
Beginning with a brief look at the life of Nostradamus the man and the way he encoded his predictions to escape persecution, this text then goes on to examine his predictions for the next 50 years. These include the rise of an Asian military power and its march into Europe, and severe flooding.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Peter Lemesurier is one of the best contemporary interpreters of Nostradamus' writings, and he's the only one I've found who follows the particular systematic method of interpretation that he describes in the beginning of this book. When I read The Next 50 Years, I feel as though I'm on the same level as the author, rather than being talked down to. While Lemesurier's unraveling of the prophesies doesn't always square with the popular opinions of other Nostradamus scholars, I still trust his opinions in light of his methods of reasoning. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Restraint is the better part of valor(and writing), June 19, 2004

(REAL NAME)
I bought this book in about 1998, and I read it with an extremely skeptical mind. Even with a skeptical mind I appreciated the authors reluctance to make outlandish assumptions about quatrains. He clearly explained his thought process, and he focuses on quatrains whose meanings can be definitively understood. In this books case he focuses on a detailed invasion of Europe by Middle Eastern/Asiatic/African armies. The reason he can definitively say this invasion is coming is two-fold: 1.Nostradamus' quatrains detail areas of Europe that have never been attacked by Arabs/Asiatics before(logically its in the future then) 2. Nostradamus clearly lays out the path of the invasion and names cities which are to be attacked/destroyed.
Upon first reading this book in 1998 in a pre-9/11 world the claims that there would soon be an invasion of Europe seemed so preposterous that I simply refused to entertain such a notion.
Now in a world of suitcase nukes, dirty bombs, Iranian militarism, 9/11. In a society that seems decidedly fragile and vulnerable, this book becomes downright scary.
It was a book that was ahead of its time at publication, that is scholarily in tone, and definitely worth a read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not too bad of a book., March 30, 1999
I liked the book. It needed to emphasis more on Nostradamus' prophecies on a world basis instead of just Europe.
