5.0 out of 5 stars WHAT is that coming over the hill???
Everyone in our household enjoys this CD, ages 40 down to 5. The beat is upbeat, but still rocks.
Their lyrics are often clever and fun. We first saw them on "Later with Jools Holland", and we loved them for their committed, energetic performances.

The Automatic's not accepted anywhere is a pretty average effort. Monster is a great, catchy tune. The rest of the album is not much to write home about. Save yourself the expense and download Monster - ignore the rest.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Accpeted Anywhere, April 9, 2009

To be honest, my first impression of this album was that it was really stupid. I thought the band was just another lame punk band (because they were part of the Vans Warped Tour, I guess) singing a bunch of stupid, meaningless songs. But at some point, I started to get hooked on these stupid songs and I realized that the lyrics are infact very meaningful. I also noticed that the artwork, which I hated just as much as the rest of the album, depicts all of the themes throughout the album. However, there are some flaws that I still cannot get over. For example, in many of their songs, both the lead singer and the backup's voices start to get a little obnoxious. "There's an annoying little man shouting all over our album -- and it's me," says lead singer Alex Pennie during an interview in which he admits some faults with the album. But the more mature songs like "Lost at Home," Pennie's personal favorite, and "By My Side" level the album out. Also, I've grown to like the whole pop punk thing because it sets them apart from the rest of the now popular British bands. I'd have guessed that these guys would have a great future ahead of them, but the reviews for their sophomore album, This Is A Fix (only available in the U.K.), beg to differ.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great find, May 8, 2008

I bought this cd a few weeks ago and love it. I only came back to this item to see if Amazon's "people who bought this, also bought" could find me more good stuff. I'm only writing this review since there aren't any as they are all under the "Import" product listing for this cd. Go check them out if you need to read more about this cd, but this cd is very good. Listen to the clips and decided for yourself.
