I bought this book for my daughter when she was almost 4. She adores this book. She love the rhymes, the repetition and the bright intricate pictures. There is enough repetition to have kids love it, but not so much to bore the adult that is reading it.

I don't normally review the picture books I read to my kids, but...
My two year old boy loved it.
My four year old boy loved it.
My ten year old girl loved it.
I loved it.
Very fun to read with a snooty Malfoy-like voice, and funny at the end.
Parents who avoid more gross things with their kids might want to steer clear. It does joke about eating spiders, "blood and brains," and "Guts and veins." It is a Halloween book though it you can accept it with that in mind. It has vampires, fortune tellers, skeletons, goblins, ghouls, werewolves, et cetera.
Initially I checked it out from the library, but I just had to add this book to our own shelves at home.

My three elementary-aged kids love this book and we read it multiple times every Halloween. One of their favorite things is to say his name themselves as it comes up on every page (Simon Lester Henry Strauss). The illustrations are gross but in my opinion, not inappropriate and detailed enough that my kids like to look over each page and point out the funny but yucky things in the haunted house. It has a great ending also!
