Enjoyable and informative,

This review is from: Not for Attribution (Hardcover)
This is a delightful, but informative, collection of true incidents from the often misunderstood world of public and government relations. For working professionals, and those about to enter the field, the book illuminates some of the situations that occur all too often, but are rarely if ever taught or written about. Any reader will gain both a better understanding of how public and government relations really works, and the conditions under which the practitioners sometimes must operate. The author, known to me for many years, is a broadly experienced professional, with an exceptional writing talent. His careful editing of the stories he gathered for this collection reflects both his skill at clearly presenting the gist of an incident, while capturing the lighter side of the profession. I recommend the book not only to those entering or already in the field, but as a quick and entertaining way for business executives to obtain a better understanding of the art of public and government relations.

Informative and Fun,

I think John Allen's NOT FOR ATTRIBUTION is amusing and enlightening for any PR practioner, or for someone who is considering entering the field, or for anyone who wonders what goes on in the sometimes zany profession.Allen gives telling, real-life examples of successful projects as well as embarrasing failures. His 200 anecdotes covers travails from piercing the Iron Curtain with a Russian-language annual report to dealing with a camera shy but caustic C.E.O. Highly recommended.
