This review is from: I am Not So Different, the Aspergers Survival Guide (Paperback)
Certainly, this book includes lots of tips to cope with Asperger Syndrome and no complicated stuff, especially how to tackle bullying at school. And it encourages most parents and kids with AS to fight against the bullies. However, as an adult with AS, I wish I would get more information on adults with AS, because they have to cope with problems on jobs and unemployment. On top of that, most AS adults recognized their AS recently, which means that it has been so hard to maintain their relationships with their peers. So you must accept the fact that they have frequent job changes and have been labeled as losers.
After all, I could give the item 5 stars if the author showed adult Aspies how to survive in their daily lives. The situation about AS has been improving recently, but the earlier you realize your AS, the better your life must be! That's exactly how I feel right now because I myself was diagnosed with AS and ADHD about 3 years ago. |
