About the Author

Sandra Brown is the author of fifty-six New York Times bestsellers, most recently Play Dirty which was published in August 2007 by Simon & Schuster and debuted at number two on The New York Times hardcover fiction bestseller list. Her other recent bestsellers include Ricochet (2006), Chill Factor (2005), White Hot (2004), Hello, Darkness (2003), The Crush (2002), Envy (2001), all of which have jumped onto the Times bestseller list in the number one to five spot. Her new novel Smoke Screen will be published on August 12, 2008.

Brown began her writing career in 1981 and since then has published nearly seventy novels, most of which remain in print. As of 1990, when Mirror Image made The New York Times bestseller list, each subsequent novel, including reprints of earlier books, have become Times bestsellers. Her novel The Witness was recently optioned by Twinstar Entertainment for a major motion picture. A lifelong Texan, Sandra Brown was born in Waco and raised in Ft. Worth. She is much in demand as a speaker at book festivals and charity functions throughout the year. Not Even For Love, by Sandra Brown is not one of her better books. This book is about as close to a cheap Harlequin romance novel that one will get. I barely got through the book - it was awful. No mystery, no character depth, totally superficial, totally predictable, totally flat, dull, and boring. I believe that Ms. Brown mentioned that the book was written in 1982 and she should have left it there. Touted as a "classic love story, I found absolutely nothing "classic" about this book. Don't waste your time reading this one. Her later books are so much better.

"Not Even For Love.." was truly a throw-back 80's romance novel. Though it lacks in Sandra's usual in-depth character potrayals..it was a nice, quick Sunday read. Outcome is predicatable, so if you aren't into quick romance reads, you may want to check out some of her newest offerings.

This book revolves around three main characters: Jordan, Helmut and Reeves. It's a tale of a woman torn between marrying the rich man she's been dating or gambling on a man she's just met but had some steamy moments with. Truly predictable, this book is a quick read full of some of those nice, romantic love scenes that we've all come to expect from Sandra Brown. It's not her best book, but not her worst. I recommend that you check it out from the library or borrow it from a friend, but I don't think it's worth paying money for...
