2nd Best CD of the Year!,

This review is from: Not Everybody Gets a Happy Ending (Audio CD)
The reason it's second is I also bought DSF's 1st CD "Spawn of Dysfunction" and right now it holds the number 1 spot! This CD is really good! Being a musician, and hearing so much music everyday, I tend to be a bit jaded and don't take notice very often - not so with DSF! I saw them live at WorkPlay in Birmingham and loved their show. Great songs, great tone, great energy, and overall a fun band. Who wouldn't like Grog? ;) Mr. Drew and Al round out the power trio and all are very good musicians, and compliment each other in a very natural way. None of the music sounded forced or contrived.
On record, the songs are well thought out, tight, good arrangements, and well produced. I'm also a big King's X fan, and there are similarities in the vibes they create, which I very much appreciate. Grog's vocals and melodies are immediately likeable and comfortable, while still being edgy and fierce. As a guitarist, I send a big "shout out" to Mr. Drew for the way he creates so many different textures and subtle moments, things so many modern guitarists tend to neglect. If you like hard rock and metal, you should definitely get both CDs and see them live the first chance you have!

I haven't purchased a CD for a long time, and when I first heard Die So Fluid I was not only entranced by Grog their lovely and talented lead singer, but by their musicmanship as a whole. If you buy this CD, you won't be sorry. It just rocks, plain and simple. If you don't buy anything else, you should just stop reading this and click "buy it now". Do it FOOL!

And I actually don't dig metal!,
This review is from: Not Everybody Gets A Happy Ending (MP3 Download)
I'm a bass player.
I was raised on Blakck Sabbath and Metallica as a kid and rock was my life all through my teen years. As I really got more and more into bass, I started leaning towards r&b and funk because the bass was very active in those styles, and I felt the grooves were stronger and just fit! I really don't listen to much rock at all anymore, expecially not metal or the gothic stuff that's been going around. But I'll tell you this, I read an article about Die So Fluid in Bass Player Magazine, and after a month or so, I got bored and checked them out for kicks. Wow. I was not expecting to like this band at all, I just wanted to see what techniques and style Grog used commonly, so I found them on Youtube and happened to check out "Existential Baby". GREAT song! I was blown away by the feel this group had, given their gothic image and rock and roll style wouldn't send the vibe their music apparently had! I really dig this band; this album is amazing, I kept listening to the clips on amazon all day yesterday waiting for the darn thing to download. I really think DSF really has something, and I love it. Check them out. If you play bass, or just like a cool, new sound with an old-school feel, check them out!

This has to be one of my favorite albums. I was introduced to this band recently who were on tour with Mindless Self Indulgence and was lucky enough to tour around with them for a little while. The band has a great new feel in the hard rock scene. Their first release, Spawn of Dysfunction is a great album and there is not a single song that I do not like. The second album Not Everybody Gets A Happy Ending, is just as great! The members of this band mix extremely well with each other, and compliment one another in a way that is hard to find these days. Listening to the records you can imagine it being a great quad set, but in fact all that lovely music is coming from 3 individuals. All I can say is buy these albums and you will not be disappointed, and if you get the chance to see them live, you will not regret it, but you will miss a great show!! Don't hesitate any longer!!
