Jules Feiffer calls Paul Szep "drunk with passion," which is perfectly fitting because few other editorial cartoonists draw with such intensity that the artwork looks like it is being forced out of the pen. Szep's rough, cross-hatched style perfectly complements his dead-on content. He's the kind of editorial cartoonist whose every word, every line, is potent, powerful, and "the editorial equivalent of a Cruise Missile" that, as NBC's Matt Lauer states in his introduction, "streaks across our social landscape." It's no wonder, then, that Szep has won two Pulitzer Prizes, two Sigma Delta Chi Awards, a headliner, the International Thomas Nast award, and three honorary doctorates. The real joy of this collection is that it spans Szep's career to date, from Vietnam and the Johnson years, through Watergate and Nixon, the 1970s with Ford and Carter, and up to Clinton's second term.
