Dravid immigrated to the US in 1986 and currently resides in Philadelphia where he practices Radiology. When not at work or writing, Dravid can be found on the cricket field or the golf course; he also loves to indulge his interests in reading, travel, photography and art. Just picked this up- and glad I did. A must for any cricket fan. And even for non-cricket fans, provides a great peek into life growing up in Bombay/Mumbai. (After all not everyone in Bombay is a "slumdog millionaire"). Cricket fan or not, most can relate as it's quite simply the story of a kid who dreams of making it big in professional sports.
Highly recommended!

Took a chapter or so to get into it, but then it had me hooked - the characters are nicely built up as the author goes back and forth in time to weave a classic story. Throw in cricket, Mumbai and you have a winner. Highly recommended for people familiar with India and cricket but also for others who just want a good yarn.

This was such a delightful read. I don't know anything about cricket, luckily the author's telling of Arjun's story didn't make that a problem. He weaves Arjun's home, school and cricket experiences together in such a way you feel as though you are walking alongside Arjun! The details and characters are well written and so descriptive - I could easily imagine myself on that wall watching the games, walking the streets, etc. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I hope the author has more in store!

I found "Not Just Cricket" to be a riveting and entertaining novel. It is a story that revolves around the character Arjun - a high school boy from a middle class family in Mumbai. Arjun has a meteoric rise to stardom as a batsman in cricket crazy Mumbai.

The story unfolds vividly, the language is vibrant. Clearly the author has a great love of the game of cricket. I enjoyed the fast paced desciption of games as Arjun goes from being one of hundreds of kids playing challenge games on the maidans of Mumbai to winning games for his school and finally playing on the national stage. Arjun has a secret though and you cannot wait to find out if his stardom is going to come crashing down on him.
Woven around the central narrative of a rising cricket star are touching and evocative stories of the characters around Arjun.

This is a riveting story and an excellent read.
